PNP DEPLOYS 6,630 PERSONNEL TO SECURE SENATE IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has mobilized a total of 6,630 police personnel to secure the Senate impeachment proceedings set on July 6, reinforcing its commitment to public safety and the peaceful exercise of democratic processes.

The security operation includes the activation of a Special Task Group exclusively tasked to oversee police operations before, during, and after the proceedings. Of the total personnel, 3,250 police officers will be deployed in key areas surrounding the Senate, while 2,900 Civil Disturbance Management personnel will remain on standby for immediate augmentation should the situation require.

Police deployment will cover the north, front, and south sections of J.W. Diokno Boulevard to maintain public order, assist motorists and pedestrians, and ensure the uninterrupted flow of lawful activities. The PNP has also installed additional CCTV cameras in strategic locations, finalized traffic rerouting plans in coordination with concerned agencies, and identified nearby hospitals to ensure prompt emergency medical response if needed.

The comprehensive security preparations form part of the PNP's Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, highlighting proactive planning, inter-agency coordination, and operational readiness for major national events. These measures likewise support the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to maintain peace and order while safeguarding the constitutional rights of all Filipinos.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., said the organization remains fully prepared to carry out its mandate with professionalism, impartiality, and respect for the rule of law.

FORMER COP FACING MURDER CHARGE VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERS TO PRO6

A former police officer facing a murder charge voluntarily surrendered to authorities shortly after midnight on Sunday, July 5, allowing the peaceful implementation of an outstanding warrant of arrest at the headquarters of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) in Iloilo City.

At around 12:45 a.m., the 40-year-old former PNP personnel voluntarily surrendered to PRO6 Acting Regional Director Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño at the PRO6 Regional Headquarters in Iloilo City. Following his surrender, police authorities served the outstanding warrant of arrest against him for the crime of murder, pursuant to an order issued by the Regional Trial Court in Iloilo City dated April 26, 2022, with no bail recommended.

During the process, the former police officer also voluntarily turned over his issued service firearm, a Ta**us TS9 pistol, together with one magazine. The entire operation was documented using Body-Worn Cameras (BWCs) in accordance with established PNP operational procedures to ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to due process. He is now under police custody while awaiting the next stages of the judicial process.

The voluntary surrender came after continuing police efforts to locate the wanted individual. Earlier law enforcement activities related to the case likewise prompted appropriate internal reviews by concerned PNP offices to further strengthen operational procedures and accountability, consistent with the organization's commitment to professionalism.

PNP CRACKS FALLEN POLICE CORPORAL CASE; COP SURRENDERS, ALLEGED GUNMAN ARRESTED

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., made a major breakthrough in the investigation into the killing of a Police Corporal assigned to the 2nd Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company through intensified investigative and operational efforts. The operation led to the voluntary surrender of a Police Staff Sergeant and the arrest of his alleged cohort on July 2, 2026, just a day after the incident in Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur.

Immediately after the incident on July 1, 2026, in Purok Lapu-Lapu, Barangay Tikwas, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur, joint police intelligence, investigative, and operating units conducted extensive CCTV backtracking, intelligence gathering, forensic processing, witness interviews, and focused hot pursuit operations. These efforts produced circumstantial and corroborative evidence indicating the possible involvement of a Police Staff Sergeant assigned to the Margosatubig Municipal Police Station.

Faced with the evidence gathered by investigators, the suspect voluntarily surrendered before the Margosatubig Municipal Police Station on July 2, 2026. During his statement, he admitted participating in the incident as the driver of the motorcycle allegedly used in the commission of the crime and identified his alleged cohort as the individual who allegedly shot the victim using the latter’s issued PNP service firearm.

He also turned over his issued service firearm and the motorcycle allegedly used in the commission of the crime. Both pieces of evidence were immediately placed under police custody for forensic examination and evidentiary processing.

Acting on the information provided by the surrendering suspect, joint operating units immediately launched a focused hot pursuit operation that resulted in the arrest of the alleged gunman at his residence in Barangay Poblacion, Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur, on the same day. Authorities also recovered the victim’s PNP-issued CANIK 9mm service pistol from the possession of the arrested suspect. Both suspects, together with the recovered firearm and other evidence, were turned over to the Dumalinao Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate criminal charges.

“This case reflects the determination of our investigators and operating units to pursue every lead until those responsible are brought before the justice system. No individual is beyond the reach of the law when evidence clearly establishes accountability,” said PGEN Nartatez.

“Hindi kami titigil hangga’t hindi napapanagot ang mga sangkot sa krimen. Ang batas ay ipatutupad nang patas at walang kinikilingan, anuman ang katungkulan ng isang tao,” PGEN Nartatez said.

PNP DEALS DOUBLE BLOW TO REGION 9 CARNAPPING FUGITIVES

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested two high-ranking regional most wanted persons wanted for separate carnapping cases in intelligence-driven operations conducted by the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) on July 2, 2026 in Cagayan de Oro City and Zamboanga Sibugay.

The first operation, conducted by the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 9 (RHPU9) in Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City, resulted in the arrest of the No. 2 Regional Most Wanted Person in the PNP E-Warrant System and No. 6 in the Highway Patrol Group Target List, who is facing charges for Carnapping of a Motorcycle. The accused was subsequently placed under the custody of the Provincial Highway Patrol Team–Zamboanga del Norte for documentation and turnover to the issuing court.

In Barangay Sanito, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, personnel of the Provincial Highway Patrol Team–Zamboanga del Sur, under RHPU9, served a warrant of arrest against the No. 10 Regional Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office 9 for Violation of Republic Act No. 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016. The warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 23, Molave, Zamboanga del Sur, on June 11, 2026, after which the accused was taken to the unit headquarters for documentation and proper disposition.

These successful operations reinforce the PNP’s sustained campaign against wanted persons and reflect the PNP Focused Agenda, a strategic framework for organizational transformation that prioritizes Enhanced Managing Police Operations to strengthen law enforcement efforts and ensure that offenders are brought before the courts.

R**E, MURDER FUGITIVES TOPPING NEGROS ISLAND REGION WANTED LIST FALL IN PNP OPS

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., captured the Negros Island Region’s No. 1 Most Wanted Person, who is facing six counts of r**e, and the Region’s No. 5 Most Wanted Person, wanted for murder, in separate police operations conducted on July 4, 2026, in La Carlota City and Silay City, Negros Occidental.

The first operation resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-old Filipino male in Barangay III (Poblacion), La Carlota City. Joint operatives from the Tracker Team and Women and Children Protection Desk of the La Carlota Component City Police Station, with the assistance of the Regional Intelligence Unit–Negros Island Region and the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, served the warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 74, La Carlota City, for six counts of r**e. The warrant carries no bail recommended. The accused is now under the custody of the La Carlota Component City Police Station pending further court proceedings.

In a separate operation in Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, authorities arrested the 47-year-old Regional No. 5 Most Wanted Person by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 40, Silay City, likewise with no bail recommended. The operation was carried out by the Tracker Team of the Silay Component City Police Station, assisted by personnel from the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office and the Regional Intelligence Unit–Negros Island Region. After booking procedures, the accused was brought before the court where the criminal case is pending.

₱3.8M WORTH OF “NO GRAPHIC HEALTH WARNINGS” CI******ES INTERCEPTED IN PAMPANGA

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), in coordination with the San Fernando City Police Station, successfully implemented a search warrant that led to the seizure of sixty (60) master cases of ci******es without required graphic health warnings, with an estimated value of ₱3,870,000.00 inside an impounded vehicle at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 3 compound in Barangay Maimpis.

The operation stemmed from a request for police assistance from LTO Region 3 after a vehicle was left unattended following an anti-colorum checkpoint activity. Acting on this, CIDG personnel secured the necessary search warrant to lawfully open and inspect the unit, which later yielded the prohibited to***co products. The activity was properly witnessed by barangay officials in the area to ensure transparency and adherence to procedure.

The operation aligns with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, reinforcing lawful enforcement actions that support public health protection and fair trade practices. PNP NABS 29 IN ANTI-ILLEGAL FISHING DRIVE; ₱10.12-M IN EQUIPMENT SEIZED

The Philippine National Police (PNP) sustained its nationwide campaign against illegal fishing after four separate maritime law enforcement operations conducted from July 4 to the early hours of July 5, 2026 resulted in the arrest of eight individuals and the confiscation of fishing vessels, prohibited fishing gear, and other equipment with a combined estimated value of ₱10.12 million.

The accomplishment supports the government's continuing efforts under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to safeguard the country's marine resources while advancing the PNP Focused Agenda through Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which emphasizes stronger operational coordination and effective law enforcement.

In Cebu, personnel of the Cebu Maritime Law Enforcement Team (MLET) and the Regional Maritime Unit 7 conducted a seaborne patrol about 14 kilometers off Carnaza Island, Daanbantayan, on the morning of July 4. The operation led to the arrest of three Filipino crew members of a commercial fishing vessel and the confiscation of a medium-scale fishing vessel, fishing paraphernalia, around 300 kilograms of assorted fish, a GPS unit, and other equipment with an estimated value of ₱1.62 million.

Later that afternoon in the municipal waters of Orion, Bataan, personnel of the Orion Municipal Police Station, together with the local Bantay Dagat, conducted an anti-illegal fishing operation that resulted in the apprehension of 19 Filipino fishermen and the confiscation of a fishing boat valued at approximately ₱2.9 million. In accordance with applicable fisheries regulations, the violators were subsequently released after payment of the prescribed administrative fine.

In Zamboanga City, operatives of the Maritime Police Station conducted another seaborne patrol in the waters of Barangay Sangali on the evening of July 4. The operation resulted in the arrest of two Filipino suspects and the confiscation of a modified Danish seine, fishing nets, improvised fishing accessories, two boat engines, and four boxes of assorted fish. The seized fishing equipment was estimated at ₱1.6 million.

Meanwhile, in the seawaters off Barangay Malangabang, Concepcion, Iloilo, a joint operation by the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, the Regional Intelligence Unit 6, and the Bantay Dagat Task Force led to the arrest of five Filipino fishermen during the early hours of July 5. Authorities confiscated four fishing boats, fishing paraphernalia, and assorted fish with an estimated value of more than ₱4 million.
All arrested individuals are of legal age and are undergoing the appropriate legal process, while the confiscated items remain under the custody of the concerned operating units and partner agencies.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. lauded the operating personnel for their coordinated efforts in protecting the country's marine resources.

"Ang ating mga karagatan ay hindi lang likas na yaman—kabuhayan din ito ng napakaraming Pilipino. Kaya tuloy-tuloy nating ipatutupad ang batas laban sa illegal fishing, hindi lang para mapanagot ang mga lumalabag, kundi para matiyak na may mapapakinabangan pa ang mga susunod na henerasyon. The Chief PNP also reminded coastal communities and those engaged in the fishing industry to continue observing fisheries laws and to work with authorities in preserving the country's marine environment.

"Mas magiging epektibo ang ating kampanya kung may pagtutulungan ang pamahalaan at ang komunidad. Hinihikayat natin ang publiko na ireport ang mga paglabag upang sama-sama nating mapangalagaan ang ating karagatan para sa susunod na henerasyon."
