The Vice Mayor joined the championship game of the Banaue Basketball League, where LGU‑Gubernu swept the Angels 2‑0 to claim the best‑of‑three title at the newly refurbished Municipal Gymnasium. A simple awarding ceremony followed, recognizing both the basketball champions and outstanding volleyball players. In his message, the Vice Mayor thanked all athletes, coaches, and supporters, urging everyone to continue valuing sports and making it a daily habit. He also recalled that Banaue’s first organized basketball league dates back to the mid‑1990s, initiated by then Municipal Councilor Zenaida Munar with the support of then SK Federation President Donald Mongolnon — who now serves as Municipal Mayor. The Vice Mayor lauded Mayor Mongolnon’s steadfast commitment to sports development, noting how this legacy continues to strengthen unity, discipline, and community spirit in Banaue.

September 2-4, 2026, Manila Hotel, Manila:

While some may see the 3rd Quarter 2026 NEB Meeting and the 3rd Conference of the Academy of Presiding Officers as just another conference, these gatherings offer far more. They open doors for meaningful linkages, allow us to learn from the experiences of other LGUs, and provide discussions that strengthen our legislative work. As Vice Mayor of Banaue, attending this activity ensures that every insight gained, every best practice shared, and every connection built becomes part of the continuing effort to improve our local governance. These learnings will guide future legislative actions and help shape programs that will benefit Banaue in the long term. Public service grows when we learn beyond our borders and the Vice Mayor remains committed to bringing these lessons home.

In my absence as I attended the 3rd Quarter 2026 NEB Meeting and the 3rd Conference of the Academy of Presiding Officers in Manila, the 20th Sangguniang Bayan of Banaue continued its work with dedication.

With Hon. Fermin P. Haclao, Jr. serving as Temporary Presiding Officer, the council successfully held its Regular Session and acted on matters vital to our municipality — from first‑reading proposals referred to committees, to deliberations on second‑reading items, unfinished business, and other agenda for the day.

My sincere thanks to the 20th SB for carrying forward the work of governance with commitment and unity, proving once again that public service in Banaue does not pause, even when one of us is away.

As the month of August comes to a close, we would like to send our warmest birthday greetings to all our hardworking Barangay Officials who celebrated their birthdays this month.

August 26, 2026:

The Vice Mayor Atty. Kendall Pung-ao T. Immoliap, together with MLGOO Jennifer Licyayo, MPDO Samson Cabbigat and staff Jenny Rose Nanglihan, attended the 2025 LGU Profiling Feedbacking at Riverview Hall, Kiangan, initiated by the DILG. The team also started the Local Governance Action Plan to further strengthen local systems and community service. This work may seem technical, but these efforts reflect a commitment to a Banaue that listens, learns, and acts. By grounding plans in real data and realities in the community, this is a move closer to a governance that is responsive and inclusive.

As Sangguniang Bayan Chair, the Vice Mayor plays a key role in ensuring that these governance initiatives are supported by the necessary legislative measures that provide policy direction, institutional backing, and accountability mechanisms that help the LGU deliver better, more efficient services to the people of Banaue.

The Vice Mayor, Atty. Kendall Pung-ao T. Immoliap, went to Barangay Amganad to conduct a Katarungang Pambarangay orientation for the Barangay Officials and members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa.

During the activity, the Vice Mayor discussed the Katarungang Pambarangay and its role in helping Barangay Officials and members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa address and settle disputes within their community.

Ret. Col. David Mariano also shared his knowledge on the duties and responsibilities of the Barangay Tanods, giving the participants a better understanding of their role in maintaining peace and order in the community.

For the Vice Mayor, the continued conduct of the Katarungang Pambarangay seminar is more than a requirement; it is a commitment to peace, accountability, and community-driven resolution, ensuring that conflicts are settled with fairness, dignity, and compassion right where people live.

This is one way of building stronger barangays: by equipping our leaders, uplifting their capacity, and trusting them with the tools to keep harmony in our communities.

August 14, 2026 - "Better stops, better journeys."

The Municipal Vice Mayor Atty. Kendall Pung-ao T. Immoliap conducted a site visit with Municipal Mayor Donald Mongolnon, DOT–CAR Regional Director Jovita Ganongan and staff, Provincial Tourism Officer Roscoe Kalaw, Municipal Tourism Officer Dale Humiwat and staff and Punong Barangay Roger Kindipan at the proposed Tourist Rest Area (TRA) location in Viewpoint, Banaue, Ifugao.

The TRA will provide clean comfort stations, charging hubs, and local tourist information, improving travel experience, protecting public health, and supporting small businesses by showcasing local crafts and regional products.

August 14, 2026: Seeing Batad from the ground.

The Vice Mayor Atty. Kendall Pung-ao T. Immoliap accompanied DOT–CAR Regional Director Jovita A. Ganongan and her team on her first site visit to the Batad Rice Terraces, giving her a direct look at the grassroots challenges and opportunities shaping our tourism landscape.

Together with them were barangay officials led by Punong Barangay Romeo Heppog, Kagawad Charlie Ognayon, Provincial Tourism Officer Roscoe Kalaw, and Municipal Tourism Office personnel Rio Dale Humiwat and Glori Dogwe.

Along the way, the team encountered DOLE-TUPAD workers restoring typhoon Uwan‑damaged fields, a reminder of the resilience behind these terraces.

A consultation with tourism stakeholders and the Batad Tourism Council then followed. The discussion produced grounded short and long‑term insights to strengthen tourism while safeguarding this priceless heritage.

This allowed the team to listen, consult, and understand the real needs of our tourism communities. Every step we take is to ensure that services reach the people who need them most.
