𝗣𝗖𝗔‑𝗔𝗥𝗖 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗗𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗩‑𝗔 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁

The Philippine Coconut Authority-Albay Research Center (PCA‑ARC) proudly welcomed the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region IV‑A Extension Office for an Exchange Training Program (Study Visit) on July 8, 2026.

As part of the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), this collaborative activity brought together 29 participants, including representatives from 12 Coconut Farmers’ Cooperatives (CFCs), to explore PCA‑ARC’s research initiatives, processing technologies, and innovation support for the coconut industry.

Through technical discussions, open fora, and field and facility visits, the activity provided a meaningful platform for knowledge sharing and for strengthening cooperative capabilities and participation in coconut‑based enterprises.

The PCA‑ARC remains steadfast in its mission to advance research, knowledge sharing, and inclusive growth among coconut stakeholders nationwide.

𝑾𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒐𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒖𝒕 — harvested at a maximum of 9 months from spathe opening, with the soft (meat) and liquid (coconut water) endosperms have a reasonably sweet taste

𝑫𝒊𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒐𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒖𝒕 — shaped into tapered cylinder form, presented as unshaved, partially shaved, or fully shaved

𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒐𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒖𝒕 — husk fully or partially removed, leaving a clean cone cover to protect the germination pores

Nakiisa ang PCA-ARC sa “Training of Trainers on Coconut Sap Sugar Production” na isinagawa ng ATI Bicol katuwang ang PCA Region 5 bilang suporta sa implementasyon ng CFIDP sa rehiyon.

Nagbahagi ng mga teknikal na talakayan sina Ms. Ma. Teresa I. Namia, Division Chief III, at Mr. Evan Titus Paul L. Labrador, Senior Science Research Specialist ng PCA-ARC Food Product Development Division sa 19 coconut farmer leaders at 6 Agricultural Extension Workers mula sa iba’t ibang lalawigan ng Bicol.

Layunin ng pagsasanay na palawakin ang kaalaman ng mga kalahok sa paggawa ng Coconut Sap Sugar at ihanda sila bilang mga tagapagsanay sa kanilang mga komunidad.

The PCA-ARC proudly celebrates the successful completion of the 240-hour On-the-Job Training Program of the 4th Year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture students of Bicol University Guinobatan.

Through this immersive experience, the students were fully engaged in hands-on training across key areas of coconut research and development, including Biotechnology, Tissue Culture, Integrated Pest Management, Food Product Development, Coconut Hybridization, and various farm and laboratory operations. This exposure allowed them to meaningfully bridge classroom learning with real-world applications in agricultural science.

PCA-ARC extends its commendation to the students for their dedication, discipline, and active participation throughout the training period. Their enthusiasm and commitment reflect not only their preparedness for professional practice but also their promising future as contributors to the advancement of the agriculture sector.

PCA-ARC continues to support the development of future professionals through experiential learning, as Oas Community College Bachelor of Science in Office Administration interns successfully completed their 600-hour internship program at the Center.

The program provided valuable hands-on exposure to administrative operations, allowing interns to apply classroom-based knowledge in real workplace settings. Through this immersion, they developed essential competencies in office management, documentation, coordination, and professional communication.

PCA-ARC commends the interns for their dedication, discipline, and commitment throughout the duration of the training. Their performance reflects both their readiness for the professional environment and the strong partnership between PCA-ARC and OCC in advancing practical education.

𝓟𝓒𝓐‑𝓐𝓡𝓒 𝓛𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓹 𝓣𝓻𝓪𝓷𝓼𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷

In the exigency of service and to ensure the continued operations of the PCA-Albay Research Center following the retirement of Dr. Cristeta A. Cueto, Department Manager II, RDB‑Deputy Administrator Annabelle B. Francisco was directed to assume supervision of ARC effective 21 April 2026, until a new Department Manager II is duly appointed.

On May 4–5, 2026, the ARC community formally welcomed RDB‑DA/OIC DM‑ARC Annabelle B. Francisco in a turnover ceremony that also honored Dr. Cueto for her years of dedicated service and leadership. The program included a turnover meeting, fellowship with staff, and a facility tour showcasing ARC’s divisions and innovations.

This transition reflects both gratitude for past stewardship and confidence in the future direction of ARC, underscoring its commitment to continuity of leadership and sustained excellence in research and development.
