Balo-i takes another step toward a safer, more resilient community!

Under the leadership of Mayor Madid Elias L. Ali, the Municipality of Balo-i successfully held the Basic Incident Command System (BICS) Training from May 20–22, 2026, at the Datu Timbul Ali Training Center.

Joining the 3-day session were Mayor Ali, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, MDRRMO staff, representatives from different LGU departments, BFP, and PNP. Through eight modules led by trained cadres, participants learned essential skills in emergency preparedness, coordination, and incident management.

The training wrapped up with a simulation exercise, putting lessons into action through an Operational Period Briefing based on a real-life scenario. It was a great display of teamwork, leadership, and readiness.

During the closing program, LDRRMO Qahar Ali thanked the resource persons from Office of the Civil Defense Region X, other LGU’s and all participants for their active engagement. He highlighted the LGU’s commitment to strengthening partnerships, noting that everyone present is a vital partner of MDRRMO, ready to help and respond when emergencies strike.

El Niño Alert issued ⚠️

DOST-PAGASA has officially raised its ENSO Alert and Warning System to El Niño Alert, following the high likelihood of its development in the coming months and possible persistence into early 2027. This may bring drier-than-usual conditions, including dry spells and droughts in parts of the country.

However, above-normal rainfall may still be experienced over the western sections during the Habagat season.

REMINDER: Stay hydrated and stay safe.

According to PAGASA, El Niño may emerge as early as June to August. However, we are already experiencing a shortage of water supply due to the intense heat this summer. Therefore, the public is advised to practice water conservation to minimize the adverse effects of the current heat and the reduced occurrence of rainfall.

Here are some tips:

Use a Pail and Dipper (Tabo): Use a pail and tabo instead of showers or bidets to better gauge and reduce water usage.

Reuse Gray Water: Collect water used for washing dishes, laundry, or washing machines to clean floors, wash vehicles, or flush toilets.

Turn Off Taps: Ensure faucets are firmly turned off and turn them off while brushing teeth or shaving.

Store Water Safely: Store water in clean, covered containers, especially if experiencing intermittent supply, but check them regularly to prevent mosquito breeding.

Fix Leaks Promptly: Check all pipes, faucets, and toilets for leaks and repair them immediately to avoid wasted water.
