Grand Hyatt, Manila - The City Government of Baliwag - Baliwag Public Market was honored with Palengke Digital Breakthrough Growth Award in the recently concluded GCash Digital Excellence Awards 2025, themed “Honoring Digital Excellence, Empowering the Future,” held at Bonifacio Global City on Thursday, February 19.

The award was received by City Economic Enterprise Manager and Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Karen Joy Rivera. The event was graced by Honorable Secretary of Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Ernesto Perez who served as the Keynote Speaker of the awarding ceremony.

The Palengke Digital Breakthrough Growth Award was given to a Public Market which have eighty percent of the stall owners are on board at GCash payment platform. The massive registration started when the PalengQR Baliwag Ordinance was implemented in 2024 which encouraged stallowners to use digital payments on their transactions.

The Excellence in Digital Transformation Award for Public Sector recognizes government institutions and organizations that successfully modernize public services through digital payment systems, demonstrating innovation, efficiency, and sustained growth in cashless transactions.

STANDING FROM THEIR SEATS, IT'S THEIR TURN NOW TO BECOME CUSTOMERS

Business owners paused from their business operations to become customers themselves of the City Government of Baliwag through Baliwag Investment Promotions Unit -CEEAO taking free chocolates and flowers given by Mayor Mommy Sonia Estrella and Mayor Vice Ferdie Estrella at the Baliwag Business Center, Pagala.

This activity was a part of the Customers Appreciation Day celebrated a day before Valentine's Day initiated by the Office of the Mayor and Office of the Vice Mayor.
