designed to uplift the living conditions and improve the quality of life of distressed and disadvantaged individuals, groups, families, and communities for them to become self-reliant and participating members of our society. Pursuant to the Local Government Code of the Philippines otherwise known as the Republic Act No. 7160 which provides the devolution of social services and programs to the Local Government Units and as stipulated in Section 17 of the same article, LGUs shall provide social welfare services, which include programs and projects for women, children, elderly and persons with disability, as well as vagrants, beggars, street children, juvenile delinquents, and victims of drug abuse. The PSWDO to keep abreast with these developmental concerns take charge of the delivery of social welfare and development services and shall guarantee the social protection of the welfare rights of the people of Aurora and promote social development.
