Back-to-Back Committee Meetings of the Sanggunian on Friday, February 4, 2023 at the SB Session Hall to Update the Local Code for Children and Amend the Curfew Ordinance of Balangiga, Eastern Samar.

The Committees on Women and Family; Health and Social Welfare; and Ordinances and Legal Matters tackled the updating of the Children’s Code while Committees on Peace and Order, Public Safety and Police Mattes; and Ordinances and Legal Matters took up the amendment of the local curfew ordinance. Chairpersons Hon. Richel A. Gacho and Hon. Philip G. Adula presided the two committee meetings, respectively.

Mr. Glorie L. Abarico, MSWDO, and PEMS Catherine F. Poro, Balangiga MPS, were invited as resource persons during the committee meetings.

Both proposed legislative measures will be calendared for 2nd Reading next regular session.

The Sangguniang Bayan conducted a meeting of the Committee of the Whole on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, 3:20 PM at the SB Session Hall, with Hon. Philip G. Adula presiding, to discuss the alarming number of theft incidents involving minors in the municipality and the different ways to address this problem.

In attendance were Vice Mayor Danny Virgil B. Ablay; Mrs. Glorie Abarico, MSWDO; PEMS Catherine Poro and PSSg Lilian N. Ganade from PNP- Balangiga MPS; and the Punong Barangays of Balangiga to share their inputs and recommendations to the Sanggunian.

A meeting of the Committee of the Whole of the Sangguniang Bayan was held today, Thursday, January 26, 2023 in front of the Barangay Hall in Poblacion 05 among market stall occupants and vegetable vendors. The meeting was intended to address all issues and queries related to payment of local business tax, Mayor’s Permit renewal and other similar concerns.

This is the 3rd meeting conducted by the Sangguniang Bayan at the same venue, the first two (2) meetings were held among fish and meat vendors earlier this week.

PCapt Carlito Dela Rosa of the Balangiga MPS attended the session to provide the Sanggunian with an update on the peace and order situation of the municipality.

Hon. Marciano B. Deladia, Jr., Richel Gacho and Hon. Alfredo E. Solis gave privilege speeches. Hon. Solis rendered the committee report on the issues and concerns of fish vendors tackled during the committee meeting last January 23, 2023.

The regular session was adjourned at 12:19 PM.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Balangiga approved Resolution No. 23-009 last January 18, 2023 extending the deadline of payment of local business tax (new and renewal) from January 20 to January 31, 2023.

Failure to pay the local business tax means the non-renewal of business registration which can be a ground for closure of the establishment by the Municipal Government of Balangiga.

Visit the Office of the Municipal Treasurer at the Municipal Hall to renew your business registration today!
