In line with our TECH Peers Strategic Initiative, the Office of the Provincial Accountant held a seminar entitled “Harnessing AI in Local Governance” with Sir Abul Khayr Amalon Alonto II as the guest speaker. The activity explored the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in strengthening efficiency, accountability, and innovation within local government operations.
Sir Alonto discussed practical applications of AI such as automated data analysis, predictive planning for resource allocation, and enhanced monitoring systems. He also introduced participants to cutting-edge AI tools, including ChatGPT, Claude.ai, Gemini, and Gamma, explaining how these platforms can support decision-making, streamline workflows, and provide new ways of engaging with information. In addition, he underscored the need to address ethical considerations, data privacy, and capacity-building to ensure effective and responsible adoption of AI in governance.
Through this initiative, participants gained deeper insights into the possibilities of digital transformation and the value of integrating AI-driven solutions into government systems. The seminar reaffirmed the Provincial Government’s commitment to innovation under the TECH Peers initiative, driving forward a vision of smarter, technology-enabled, and citizen-centered governance.
