Nakiisa kahapon ang Sambilog-Balik Bugsuk Movement sa isang kampuhan ang ginawa ng mga kasapi ng bagong tatag na June 10 Land Rights Committee, isang pagpapanibagong pagsasama-sama ng mga pambansang samahan ng mga magsasaka upang idemand kay DAR Secretary Estrella na tapusin at kumpletuhin ang implementasyon ng CARPER.

Matatandaang binawi ang notice of coverage ng 10,821 hectares ng Bugsuk Land na ibinigay noong 2014.Lupa ng Bugsuk, ipamahagi na!

Representatives from Balik Bugsuk Movement, Sitio Marihangin, Bugsuk Island, Palawan, shared their lived experiences and advocacy on their ongoing fight to reclaim and protect their ancestral domain.

Balik Bugsuk Movement was established to defend against alleged violence and regain access to their fishing grounds and ancestral land.

🌱 The Marihangin Indigenous community in the has spent decades fighting for recognition of their ancestral lands.

⚠️ Since their violent displacement in 1974, families have faced land grabbing, criminalization, and repeated threats of eviction.

📢 In 2024, 10 Indigenous leaders were charged with “grave coercion,” while 282 residents were targeted in civil lawsuits designed to silence community resistance.

📎2005 - The Marihangin community applied for a Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT) before the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) to secure legal recognition of their ancestral territory. Twenty-one years later, the application remains unresolved.

📍These are not isolated cases. They are part of a wider pattern of Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation used to intimidate defending their territories.

👐🏽 IPRI support this case through the Legal Defense and Sanctuary Fund. The Marihangin people have been able to access legal assistance, cover travel costs to attend court hearings, and continue their struggle to remain on the lands they have protected for generations.

Ang halaga ng pag-aaral ay nasa pakikibahagi sa mga isyung panlipunan!

Sa gitna ng puspusang pagsasanay sa loob ng unibersidad para sa kinabukasan, hindi dapat maisantabi ang saysay ng pakikialam sa danas ng iba't ibang sektor na bumubuo sa lipunan, lalo na't sunod-sunod ang pagkasa ng mga direktibang nais palabnawin ang gampanin ng edukasyon na humubog ng mga kritikal, nakikisangkot, at mapanuring mamamayan ng bansa. Mapagyayaman lamang ang pag-aaral ng teorya at pananaliksik kung maiuugnay ito sa pampublikong buhay at mailalapat para iangat ang kagalingang panlipunan pati integridad at dignidad ng tao.

Bunsod nito, hatid ng UP Para sa Bugsuk Network (UPARSUK) ang isang talakayan kasama mismo ang mga taga-Bugsuk mula sa Sambilog - Balik Bugsuk Movement. Sa natatanging oportunidad na ito, pag-uusapan ang mga partikular na hamon sa pamumuhay ng mga katutubo buhat ng panghihimasok ng mga mapanirang proyekto ng mga pribadong entidad. Dito, lilinawin din ang papel lalo na ng mga kabataan para manindigan laban sa karahasan, diskriminasyon, at paglabag sa karapatan ng katutubong populasyon.

TINGNAN: Inilunsad ang photo exhibit na pinamagatang “Isang Pagpapatulóy, Isang Pagpapatúloy" nitong ika-8 hanggang ika-18 ng Abril sa UP Fine Arts Gallery, tampok ang kuwento ng paglaban ng mga katutubong Molbog sa kanilang lupang ninuno.

Bahagi ang naturang exhibit ng matagal nang kampanya ng mga katutubo laban sa kaliwa’t kanang pagtatangka ng mga korporasyon na kamkamin ang kanilang lupain, kabilang na ang Sitio Marihangin, at mga isla ng Bugsuk at Pandanan sa Palawan.

Inaasahan na magkakaroon pa ng dalawang iterasyon ang exhibit, ngunit hindi pa tiyak kung kailan ito isasagawa.

Where do you stand?

𝙎𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙙 𝙆𝙖𝙬: 𝙄𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙥𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙡𝙤́𝙮, 𝙄𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙥𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙪́𝙡𝙤𝙮 has officially opened its doors for all.

Inside this memory landscape of 1975 Bugsuk are images of lives and lands of the indigenous communities in the neighboring reaches of Buliluyan, Calasaguen, Malinsuno, Marihangin, Puring, Sebaring, and Tagnato, as they continue to persist and resist from then until now.

This exhibit shows and tells stories of the past reconstructed piece by piece in the exile of the present. From the presidency of Marcos Sr. to Marcos Jr., the indigenous struggle for lands and rights remains. Now as part of one Sambilog - Balik Bugsuk Movement, communities continue to stand their ground in the fight to reclaim their land and secure a future on their own terms.

Fair Finance Philippines (FFPh) is conducting a divestment campaign to oppose the ongoing commercial developments in Barangay Bugsuk, Balabac, Southern Palawan. FFPh supports the call of Sitio Marihangin residents for corporations and financial institutions to divest from harmful projects that contribute to human rights violations and displacement of indigenous communities from their ancestral lands.

This event is organized by IDEALS and Fair Finance Philippines in partnership with the UP Department of Anthropology, Sambilog - Balik Bugsuk Movement, Pakisama (Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka), Ateneo Para sa Bugsuk , Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines, and UST Simbahayan Community Development Office.

ICYMI: Nangampanya sa College of Arts and Letters nitong Martes ang ilang katutubong Molbog mula Sitio Marihangin, kasama ang mga estudyante mula UP Para sa Bugsuk at UP Palaweños, para palakasin ang panawagan na itigil ang panggigipit ng San Miguel Corporation at Jewelmer Corporation sa mga lupang ninuno.

Matapos na ihain ng mga Molbog at iba pang miyembro ng Sambilog Balik-Bugsuk Movement at Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka ang motion for reconsideration Martes sa Department of Agrarian Reform ay dumiretso sa CAL ang mga katutubo. Hindi ito ang unang pagkakataong bumisita ang mga katutubo sa DAR. Nagsagawa ng siyam na araw na hunger strike ang mga katutubo noong Nob. 2024 para iprotesta ang pagtanggal ng notice of coverage sa parehong taon.

Bagaman inaasahan ng mga katutubo na maibabasura ang motion sa DAR at maging sa Opisina ng Pangulo, iaakyat pa rin nila ang kaso sa Korte Suprema, ani Romillano Calo, pangulo ng Sambilog at isa ring katutubong Palaw'an.

Sa ngayon, ipagpapatuloy nila ang pangangampanya sa Metro Manila.

TINGNAN: Nakilahok ang UPARSUK sa pagtayo ng booth para sa Tagpuan Merchants’ Bazaar, isang proyekto ng Anthropos Core Group na naghahangad itampok ang mga produkto at adhikain ng iba't ibang student organizations and advocacy groups. Ang mga itinayong booths ay na sa Dap-ayan sa loob ng Palma Hall, UP Diliman noong Abril 16-17.

TINGNAN | Kasalukuyang isinasagawa sa UP College of Fine Arts Gallery ang photo exhibit na "𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗱 𝗞𝗮𝘄: 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗼́𝘆, 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘂́𝗹𝗼𝘆" na inorganisa ng Fair Finance Philippines kasama ang mga documentary photographer na sina Kathryn Almira, Noel Aquino, Nic Garon, at Soleil Phoebe Vinoya.

Tampok sa exhibit ang mga retratong kuha na nagdodokumento ng pamumuhay ng mga katutubong Molbog, Cagayanen, at Palaw’an sa pitong komunidad sa Katimugang Palawan na Tagnato, Puring, Buliluyan, Marihangin, Pandanan, Bugsuk, at Sebaring. Ipinapakita rin sa mga retrato ang pakikibaka ng mga katutubo laban sa pangangamkam ng mga korporasyon sa kanilang lupaing ninuno mula pa noong panahon ng Batas Militar hanggang sa kasalukuyan.

Bukas ang exhibit sa publiko hanggang Abril 20.
