The Sangguniang Bayan of Bakun has passed Municipal Ordinance No. 16-2026 (The Bakun HIV/AIDS Control and Prevention Ordinance of 2026) and was FAVORABLY REVIEWED by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Benguet during its 53rd Regular Session on September 07, 2026.

Here are the salient features of the ordinance:
1. Institutionalizes the Municipal HIV/AIDS Council (MHAC) to oversee local prevention, care, and multi-sectoral strategies.
2. Strengthens the Reproductive Health & Wellness Center (RHWC) to provide free HIV testing, STI checks, and comprehensive care.
3. Establishes HIV/AIDS Safe Spaces in local establishments for accessible information.
4. Protects Human Rights & Privacy through strict medical confidentiality and anti-discrimination policies.
5. Promotes rights-based, confidential, and voluntary HIV testing and counseling.

A proud moment for the Municipality of Bakun as we received a Scroll of Honor from the Philippine National Red Crossโ€“Benguet Chapter for our continued support of blood donation activities. The award was received by Ms. Fauline L. Busil-ac, Executive Assistant to the Municipal Mayor.

Congratulations as well to Nurse Carol D. Labenio of the Municipal Health Office, recognized as a member of the Blood Galloners Club for her generosity as a blood donor. โค๏ธ๐Ÿฉธ

MEASLES RUBELLA & VITAMIN A SUPPLEMENTATION

The Municipality of Bakun proudly conducted the Municipal Launching of the Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination and Vitamin A Supplementation, with the theme โ€œChikiting Protektado, Malusog at Ligtas!โ€

The activity brought together local officials, health workers, parents, and community partners to strengthen our shared commitment to protecting every child through vaccination and proper nutrition.

The program included messages of support, an orientation on MR vaccination and Vitamin A supplementation, pledge of commitment, and the ceremonial ribbon cutting, symbolic vaccination, and Vitamin A supplementation.

The Emergency Response Team (ERT) of the Municipality of Bakun proudly participated in the Benguet Rescuelympics 2026, held at the Benguet Sports Complex, Wangal, La Trinidad, alongside emergency responders from the ten (10) municipalities of Benguet.

More than just a competition, the event was a display of true camaraderie, sportsmanship, and unwavering dedication to saving lives. Our responders demonstrated their grit, technical precision, and teamwork across a battery of critical rescue operations: Basic Life Support (BLS) & Patient Endorsement; Ropemanship, Victim Packaging & Auxiliary Carries; Vehicular Crash Rescue Simulation; Firefighting Bucket Relay; Communication & Coordination (Team Dynamics in Search, Rescue, and Retrieval - SRR).

IGOROT PNP SAF TROOPER FROM BAKUN, BENGUET RANKS TOP 2 IN COMBAT TRACKING COURSE

Police Corporal (PCpl) Florante P. Camodag, an Igorot member of the Philippine National Police Special Action Force (PNP SAF) from Bakun, Benguet, earned Top 2 honors among 83 students in the prestigious Combat Tracking Course Class 49-2026 "CAZADORES."

The specialized course was conducted by the Scout Ranger School of the First Scout Ranger Regiment at Camp Tecson in San Miguel, Bulacan, and concluded on July 24, 2026.

Combat tracking is an advanced military and law enforcement skill that trains personnel to identify, analyze, and follow signs left by individuals or groups in various terrains. It is a critical capability used in search operations, counterinsurgency missions, and pursuit of armed suspects.

Camodag's achievement reflects his dedication, discipline, and professionalism as a member of the PNP SAF. It also serves as a source of pride for Bakun, Benguet, and the Cordillera region, highlighting the courage and resilience often associated with the Igorot people.

Labinio, extends its heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Dennisse Joy Palcongan Angeleo, a BS in Medical Laboratory Science student at the University of Baguio and a DOST Scholar, for completing her pre-training program at the Bakun Rural Health Unit laboratory in preparation for her clinical internship.
