Knowledge is one of the strongest tools in preventing illegal drug abuse.

As part of our continuing Drug-Free Barangay campaign, the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) of Barangay Lower General Luna distributed Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to our residents to raise awareness about the dangers of illegal drugs and the importance of maintaining a safe, healthy, and drug-free community.

We encourage everyone to stay informed, support anti-drug initiatives, and work hand in hand to protect our families and our community. Together, we can build a stronger, safer, and drug-free Barangay Lower General Luna.

Barangay Lower General Luna successfully conducted its Barangay Kalinisan Day along the Buddha Temple vicinity and Anido Alley through the collective efforts of our barangay officials, residents, and local vendors.

The activity included sweeping, litter collection, drainage cleaning, and proper waste disposal to help maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for everyone. The active participation of our community members reflects the spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility in keeping our barangay clean and orderly.

Lost and Found! Golden Retriever Dog.

The dog was found wandering off yesterday, July 17, 2026, in Barangay Lower General Luna. You may claim the dog at the Barangay Hall and look for Kagawad Wabe.

Provide vaccination records, microchip certificate if there is any, as well as photos of you and the dog as proof of ownership.

Barangay Lower General Luna successfully conducted an E-Waste Collection Drive, proposed by Kagawad Finuliar, to encourage proper disposal and recycling of electronic waste within the community. Residents, together with Laguisma Electronics and M-R Dental Supply, actively participated by turning over obsolete and non-functional electronic devices such as cables, small appliances, and other electronic accessories for proper collection and disposal.

The activity aimed to raise public awareness on the harmful effects of improper disposal of electronic waste and promote environmentally responsible waste management practices. Through this initiative, the barangay helped reduce potential environmental hazards posed by e-waste while supporting sustainable resource recovery and recycling.

Barangay Kagawad Soriano (Committee Chair on Waste) and Kagawad Maria Flores (Commitee Chair on Environment), together with Mr. Lacmaan of Hazardous Waste Management Specialist from City Environment and Parks Management Office, Baguio City, expressed their appreciation to all residents who participated in the activity and reaffirmed the barangay’s commitment to promoting a cleaner, safer, and more environmentally sustainable community through responsible waste management programs.

Ano ang Circular Economy o Pansa-nopen Tayo?
Ang Circular Economy ay isang sistema ng paggamit ng mga produkto at materyales kung saan pinapahaba ang buhay ng mga ito sa pamamagitan ng pagre-reduce, pagre-reuse, pagre-repair, pagre-repurpose, at pagre-recycle, sa halip na itapon agad pagkatapos gamitin.

Hindi tulad ng tradisyunal na linear economy na “kuha–gawa–tapon” (take–make–dispose), ang circular economy ay naglalayong mabawasan ang basura at mapanatili ang halaga ng mga likas na yaman sa pinakamatagal na panahon.

Ang lungsod ng Baguio at ang Barangay Lower Gen Luna ay madiin na isinusulong ang Circular Economy sa pamamagitan ng:

1. Mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng waste segregation.
2. Pagre-recycle ng papel, plastik, bote, at lata.
3. Pagko-compost ng nabubulok na basura upang gawing pataba.
4. Pagsasagawa ng mga recycling at upcycling activities.
5. Pagbabawas ng paggamit ng single-use plastics at paghihikayat sa paggamit ng mga reusable bag at mga reusable container.
6. Pagsuporta sa mga livelihood program na gumagamit ng recycled o repurposed na materyales.

Sa madaling salita, ang layunin ng Circular Economy ay bawasan ang basura, mapangalagaan ang kalikasan, at magamit nang mas mahusay ang mga likas na yaman, habang nagbibigay din ng oportunidad para sa kabuhayan at mas malinis na komunidad.

Removal of Slippery Tactile Pavement Along University of Baguio to Tiongsan Magsaysay

In line with Barangay Lower General Luna’s commitment to ensuring public safety, the removal of the slippery tactile pavement along the sidewalk from the University of Baguio to Tiongsan Magsaysay was successfully undertaken in coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), supervised by Engineer Jerome.

The project was proposed by Barangay Kagawad Finuliar and was duly approved by Barangay Captain Isabelo following numerous reports and observations of pedestrians slipping on the tactile pavement, particularly during wet weather. With the onset of the rainy season, the existing tactile pavement had become increasingly hazardous, posing a significant risk to students, commuters, senior citizens, and other pedestrians.

Recognizing the urgent need to prevent further accidents, the Barangay coordinated with DPWH for the safe removal of the affected tactile pavement. This proactive initiative aims to provide a safer walking environment, reduce slip-and-fall incidents, and protect the welfare of residents and the general public who regularly use the area.

Following the effects of Typhoon Inday, Barangay Lower General Luna successfully conducted Barangay Kalinisan Day as part of our continuing efforts to restore the cleanliness and safety of our community.

Barangay officials and residents worked together to remove storm debris and collect scattered waste left behind by the typhoon. This collective effort helps reduce health and safety risks, prevent flooding, and restore a clean environment for everyone.
