Our Mandate

The Department of Education was established through the Education Decree of 1863 as the Superior Commission of Primary Instruction under a Chairman. The Education agency underwent many reorganization efforts in the 20th century in order to better define its purpose vis a vis the changing administrations and charters. The present day Department of Education was eventually mandated through Republic Act 9155, otherwise known as the Governance of Basic Education act of 2001 which establishes the mandate of this agency. The Department of Education (DepEd) formulates, implements, and coordinates policies, plans, programs and projects in the areas of formal and non-formal basic education. It supervises all elementary and secondary education institutions, including alternative learning systems, both public and private; and provides for the establishment and maintenance of a complete, adequate, and integrated system of basic education relevant to the goals of national development.

Adiwang Integrated School (AdIS) actively participated in the Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations (FPTA) Election for School Year 2026โ€“2027 held at the Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School Function Hall on September 12, 2026.

The activity brought together parent leaders and representatives from different districts to strengthen the partnership between schools, parents, and the wider education community.

A notable part of the program was the intermission presentation by the SPTA-KAAGAPAY Task Force of Adiwang Integrated School, which showcased the enthusiasm, unity, and active involvement of AdIS parents and stakeholders. The presentation added vibrancy to the gathering while highlighting the school's commitment to meaningful parent participation and learner-centered community engagement.

The event also served as a transition in FPTA leadership as Peter O. Wasing, outgoing FPTA President, was given his time in the program to reflect on his leadership and the accomplishments of the federation. His term highlighted the importance of strong parent-school partnerships and collective action in supporting the programs and welfare of learners.

Following the presentation of accomplishments and other reports, the election proper was conducted. AdIS SPTA President Marvin S. Bambalan was elected as FPTA Board of Director representing District 5 for SY 2026โ€“2027.

Bambalan's election marked an important milestone for Adiwang Integrated School, giving District 5 a strong voice in the FPTA Board and providing an opportunity to further strengthen collaboration among parents, teachers, school leaders, and education stakeholders.

The program also featured the financial report, donation drive report, accomplishments and memory lane presentation, discussion on FPTA functions, and an orientation on the allowed and prohibited activities of PTAs, led by Education Program Supervisor Jerry C. Ymson, SGOD.

The newly elected FPTA leadership will continue the work of strengthening parent engagement and building responsive partnerships that contribute to the development and protection of learners.

From one leadership to another, the spirit of KAAGAPAY continuesโ€”parents and schools united in building stronger communities and better opportunities for every learner.

Adiwang Integrated School takes another step toward improving its essential facilities as the school water tank is finally reinstalled at a higher location above the school, maximizing its potential to provide a more adequate and accessible water supply to the school community.

The reinstallation is carried out through the hands-on efforts of School Administrative Aide Daniel C. Legaspi, with the valuable assistance of a volunteer guardian on September 11, 2026.

Strategically positioning the water tank at a higher elevation is intended to help improve the flow and distribution of water to different areas of the school. The initiative addresses an important basic need and supports the daily requirements of learners, teachers, and school personnel.

The undertaking also highlights the continuing partnership between the school and its parents and guardians. The volunteer guardianโ€™s assistance, together with Mr. Legaspiโ€™s dedication and technical effort, demonstrates how community cooperation can contribute to meaningful improvements in school facilities.

Adiwang Integrated School expresses its appreciation to Mr. Daniel C. Legaspi and the volunteer guardian for their time, effort, and service in helping make the schoolโ€™s water system more functional and efficient.

This simple yet significant improvement reflects AdISโ€™ continuing commitment to providing a safe, functional, and supportive learning environment for every learner.

Three Junior Girl Scouts from Adiwang Integrated School actively participated in the Patrol Leadership Training Course for Junior Girl Scouts held at Manuel A. Roxas Elementary School (MARES) on September 9, 2026, under the theme, โ€œDeveloping Young Leaders through Teamwork, Discipline, and Service.โ€

Representing Adiwang Integrated School were Dlamei Jane A. Villanueva, Athena Kassandra Soneja, and Annika Gwen S. Camacho, who joined fellow Junior Girl Scouts in a meaningful learning experience designed to strengthen their leadership capabilities, teamwork, discipline, responsibility, and spirit of service.

Joining the three Junior Girl Scouts was Troop Leader Jacquelyn C. Tayab, who served as one of the training speakers and facilitators, particularly in the sessions on the vision and mission, patrol organization and leadership, patrol meetings, leadership skills and decision-making, and basic scouting skills.

Also providing leadership and support to the Adiwang delegation was School School Head Lilybeth B. Balutoc, who attended in her capacity as District Field Adviser (DFA), further strengthening the school's commitment to developing young Girl Scout leaders through meaningful training and service-oriented experiences.

The training was facilitated by dedicated Girl Scout leaders and educators, including Tita Cathleen P. Angagan of MARES, Tita Debbie D. Pulido of the GSP Council, and Teodora Boris, School Head of Manuel A. Roxas Elementary School and Training Commissioner of the GSP Baguio City Council.

The SPTA-KAAGAPAY Task Force of Adiwang Integrated School facilitated a voluntary donation drive among co-parents and guardians in response to the urgent needs of a 13-year-old learner from Baguio City who suffered severe injuries after becoming a victim of bullying and physical assault, resulting in the loss of vision in his left eye.

In answer to the call for compassion and support, parents and guardians generously shared their financial contributions to help ease the burden of the learner and his family as they face the difficult journey toward recovery.

Today, September 9, 2026, the donations collected through the initiative were collated and consolidated by the SPTA-KAAGAPAY Task Force, in preparation for submission to the Schools Division Office of Baguio City (SDO Baguio) through its KAAGAPAY initiative.

The proceeds of the donation drive area intended to provide financial assistance to the affected learner and his family, particularly for medical needs, recovery, and other related expenses arising from the unfortunate incident. The collected contributions will be properly documented and turned over through the appropriate SDO KAAGAPAY process for the benefit of the learner and his family.

The initiative underscored the SPTA-KAAGAPAY Task Force's commitment to extending assistance beyond the school community and standing with learners who face difficult circumstances. It also reflected the spirit of bayanihan, compassion, and shared responsibility for learner welfare and protection.

Every contribution, no matter how small, becomes meaningful when given with compassion. Together, we become KAAGAPAYโ€”bringing hope, comfort, and support to a young learner and his family in a time of need.

Ms. Feliza W. Balawan and Ms. Flordaliza M. Cadchan of Adiwang Integrated School actively participated in the Conduct of Capacity-Building and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Development Activities under the Special Needs Education (SNED) Program held on September 2โ€“4, 2026.

The three-day activity focused on strengthening the knowledge and pedagogical competencies of teachers and school personnel in providing responsive, inclusive, and appropriate educational support to learners with disabilities and other additional learning needs. The sessions included discussions on Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Differentiated Instruction, and the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and Disability Perspective and Relevant Laws, policy anchors on Special Needs Education.

The discussion on Disability Perspective and Relevant Laws provided participants with a deeper understanding of disability, inclusion, learnersโ€™ rights, and the legal foundations that support the provision of appropriate educational services and reasonable support for learners with disabilities. This helped reinforce the importance of viewing learners from an inclusive and rights-based perspective rather than focusing solely on their limitations.

The participants also gained knowledge and practical skills in IEP development, including its use as a systematic basis for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating appropriate educational interventions and support for learners with disabilities. The sessions likewise covered the Pre-Referral Process and appropriate educational, social, and behavioral approaches and interventions for learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties (EBD).

Through active participation in the plenary discussions, orientation-workshops, breakout sessions, and sharing of experiences, Ms. Balawan and Ms. Cadchan gained valuable insights and practical strategies that can be applied in their respective classrooms and school practices. Their participation further strengthens Adiwang Integrated Schoolโ€™s commitment to promoting inclusive, responsive, rights-based, and learner-centered education for all learners, particularly those with disabilities and additional learning needs.
