MOVE and BCC ORGANIZE ‘MEN IN THE KITCHEN’
12-09-25: Male employees of the City Government of Baguio were given the opportunity to be trained on how to cook. The activity was a jointly organized by the Men Opposed to VAW Everywhere and the Baguio Character Council of the City Government of Baguio

Mr. Dan Ricky Ong, MOVE President, said, “We wanted to showcase that house chores are not a function of the women alone. It is a joint family activity which ripples love to all members.

Male employees were selected as they would set as example to their children that they too can help their wife/partner in house chores and should not be reflected in examples that they usually do nothing at home.”

Invited to deliver culinary lecture with demonstration were Mr. Myron Ganga and Mr. Justin Nabejet, chefs of Venus Parkview Hotel.

In 2006, the Philippine Commission on Women launched Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE) to engage men in ending violence against women and children.
MOVE was created because men are often at the center of domestic violence—and must also be part of the solution.
During this 18‑Day Campaign to End VAW, MOVE reminds us that accountability and solidarity across genders are essential to break the cycle of abuse.

Day 5: 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗽, 𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻

Ending violence against women is not a women-only issue—it is a collective responsibility.

Today, we highlight the vital role of male allies and men’s organizations who actively work to create safer homes, workplaces, and communities for women and girls.

In the Philippines, groups such as MOVE (Men Opposed to Violence Against Women Everywhere) have taken strong strides toward transforming harmful norms and championing respect. Here in Baguio City, MOVE (Men Opposed to VAW Everywhere Baguio) has been formally institutionalized, mobilizing men from various sectors to speak out, intervene, and stand firmly against all forms of gender-based violence.

When men take a stand, cultures shift.
When men choose respect, violence loses ground.

Today, we honor male advocates who:
✅ Challenge harmful stereotypes
✅ Promote respectful relationships
✅ Educate peers and communities
✅ Support programs protecting women and girls
✅ Refuse to stay silent in the face of abuse

Violence ends when men become part of the solution.
