Routine law enforcement operations led to significant anti-illegal drug accomplishments after personnel of the Baguio City Police Office (CPO) seized PhP78,132.00 worth of suspected shabu and arrested two drug personalities, including a High Value Individual, on September 3, 2026.

In Barangay Irisan, personnel of Baguio CPO Police Station 9 were conducting patrol operation along Quirino Highway when they noticed a vehicle obstructing the roadway with a male driver inside. The police officers approached the driver and requested his driverโ€™s license; however, he failed to present one. During the verification process, one of the police officers noticed a transparent item believed to be drug paraphernalia inside a pouch located in the driverโ€™s side door pocket.

When questioned about the item, the driver allegedly admitted that its contents were illegal, prompting the police officers to conduct a lawful search. The search resulted in the recovery of four plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing approximately 10.77 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP73,236.00, along with other drug paraphernalia. The suspect was later identified as a 29-year-old listed as a HVI.

In a separate incident in Barangay Dontogan, personnel of Baguio CPO Police Station 10 were conducting a routine checkpoint operation when they flagged down a motorcycle rider observed driving while wearing slippersโ€”a traffic infraction. During the inspection, officers saw two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu. The items were secured and later found to weigh approximately 0.72 grams, with an SDP of PhP4,896.00. The operation led to the immediate arrest of the 33-year-old male, who was categorized as a Street Level Individual.

The suspects and seized items were subsequently brought to the respective police stations. They will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

These operational successes emphasize how a continuous, vigilant presence in the community serves as an effective front line against illicit activities. This proactive approach aligns directly with the Chief PNP's focused agenda to intensify anti-illegal drug operations across all levels of policing. The Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region under the leadership of the Regional Director, PBGEN NOEL B VALLO, reaffirms its commitment to ensuring peace and order while intensifying its campaign against illegal drugs and criminality.
