The Nutrition Action Officers Association โ Cordillera Administrative Region (NAOA-CAR), in partnership with the National Nutrition Council โ CAR, successfully conducted the 5th Regional Nutrition in Action Conference on ๐ฎ๐ณ ๐๐๐ด๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ at Venus Parkview Hotel, Baguio City, bringing together nutrition action officers and partners to strengthen collaboration toward healthier and more sustainable communities.
The conference formally opened with Opening Remarks from Mr. Jimmy Taguilingon, NAOA-CAR President setting the tone for a meaningful day of learning, collaboration, and renewed commitment to advancing nutrition action in the Cordillera.
The event featured a Keynote Address from Dir. Paquito T. Moreno Jr., CESO III, Regional Director, DENR-CAR, represented by Ms. Mia Alma M. Batcagan-Tayag, Chief Administrative Officer, DENR-CAR, highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship and collective action in building healthier and more resilient communities.
The learning sessions featured timely and relevant discussions on climate-smart agriculture and nutrition, presented by Mr. Crisante K. Rosario, Agriculturist II, DA-CAR; school-based feeding through the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program and best practices, presented by Ms. Diane B. Joaquin, Nutritionist-Dietitian II, DepEd-CAR; geriatric nutrition and caring for our senior citizens, presented by Dr. Imelda O. Degay, Professor VI, Benguet State University; and building resilient and thriving public service workforces, presented by Dr. Irene T. Alcantara, Guidance Counselor, Philippine Science High School-CARC.
The program also included DOH-CAR updates from Mr. Sean Paul Fiangaan, RND, Nutritionist-Dietitian IV, DOH-CAR, followed by an exciting raffle activity and the distribution of nutrition and health posters provided by DOH-CAR to participants.
The conference concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Bella M. Basalong, MDM, MPH, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, NNC-CAR, followed by a photo opportunity, capping a meaningful day of learning, sharing, and collaboration.
Throughout the conference, Ms. Georgina Bejar, Master of Ceremonies, skillfully facilitated the program and guided the participants through the day's activities.
More than a learning event, the conference reaffirmed that nutrition, environmental sustainability, agriculture, health, and community well-being are interconnected. Through stronger partnerships and collective action, we can continue building a healthier, more resilient, and sustainable Cordillera. ๐ฑ๐
