"โ‚ฑ20 Bigas: Tulong at Pagmamahal para sa Mamamayan."

A total of 285 beneficiaries received "Benteng Bigas" (up to 10 kilograms at โ‚ฑ20.00 per kilogram) on May 28 in Brgy. Dontogan and June 1 in Brgy. Sto. Tomas Proper.

Responding to requests from these barangays, the activities were facilitated by the Baguio City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO) - Urban Agriculture Division, in partnership with the Baguio City Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (BCFAC), Food Terminal Incorporated (FTI), and the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera (DA-CAR).

Good news! โ‚ฑ20/kilo rice is available and will be sold on JUNE 3, 2026 (Wednesday, 8:30 AM onwards) at the CVAO Multi-purpose Hall (New Building), Slaughterhouse Cmpd., Sto. Niรฑo Brgy, Baguio City.

This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): 1- No Poverty; 2- Zero Hunger; 8- Economic Growth; 12- Responsible Production and Consumption.

The following are the QUALIFIED BENEFICIARIES of the โ‚ฑ20 Rice Program and should BRING the following IDs for validation:
โœ… Senior citizens - Senior citizen ID issued by OSCA or any valid government ID
โœ… Solo parents - Solo parent ID issued by OCSWDO
โœ… Persons with disabilities (PWDs) - PWD ID issued by PDAO or DSWD
โœ… Rice farmers and farm workers - Farmer's ID issued by DA-accredited agencies or RSBSA
โœ… Fisherfolk - Fisherfolk ID or certification issued by BFAR or LGU
โœ… Jeepney & taxi drivers - LTFRB-issued Driver's ID or franchise-based ID endorsed by local transport coop

NOTE: For SENIORS and PWDs (esp. those who are unable to walk), you can give your valid ID to your representative to secure a slot, process and claim your Benteng Bigas.

IN PHOTOS || NCSC-CAR & CVAO conduct Sustainable Farming Training for Baguio Senior Citizens (Batch 2)

May 28, 2026 โ€” The National Commission of Senior Citizen- Cordillera (NCSC CAR), in partnership with the Baguio City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO) - Urban Agriculture Division, organized and facilitated the โ€œSustainable Farming for Our Seniors: Hydroponics and Urban Gardeningโ€ Training held at the CVAO Conference Hall, Slaughterhouse Cmpd., Sto. Niรฑo Brgy., Baguio City.

The resource speaker and facilitator from CVAO Patrick Darato. Participants engaged in hands-on activities on seedling production and utilizing the Kratky Method of hydroponics. Free seeds, seedling trays and bags from the Department of Agriculture (DA) were also distributed to the participants. A total of 15 seniors were trained.

Urban gardening is being promoted in Baguio City to enhance food security by increasing the availability of fresh, affordable, and nutritious food for families.
