As we kick off this May 31 and celebrate National No Smoking Month this coming June, let's remember that protecting our health also means respecting our shared spaces.
According to the WHO, there is no safe level of exposure to second-hand smoke and v**e aerosol. It contains toxic chemicals that linger in the air, especially in crowded walkways. Breathing in second-hand smoke v**e also exposes others to ni****ne and fine particles that can irritate the lungs.
𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? Under Executive Order No. 26, smoking is prohibited in public places, including sidewalks and walkways. This was expanded to va**ng through Executive Order No. 106. Local ordinances in many areas also strictly penalize smoking and va**ng in shared areas to protect everyone's right to clean air.

The Science: U=U stands for Undetectable = Untransmittable. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), modern Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) suppresses the virus to levels so low that it becomes invisible to standard tests. When the viral load stays undetectable, it is medically impossible to transmit the virus to partners. This means individuals living with HIV can live long, healthy, and full lives, raise families, and fully eliminate the risk of transmission. Early detection is the key to unlocking this lifelong protection.
Additionally, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is available as an extra prevention option. PrEP is a highly effective medicine used by HIV-negative individuals to proactively reduce the risk of acquiring HIV.
