Benguet Mental Health Week

Benguet capitol employees, clients and other stakeholders are encouraged to support the advocacy of mental health awareness.

The Benguet Provincial Health Office, through the Mental Health Unit, opened a booth at the Benguet provincial capitol lobby to promote mental health awareness.

Here, everybody could snap photos to show their support to the advocacy.

Green ribbons representing the mental health awareness are also distributed to support and raise awareness on the mental health awareness.

Senior Citizens Officials for a Day, with the provincial officials and healthcare workers, and other advocates of mental health led the opening of the booth and the pinning of green ribbons.

Various activities have been set where the public could participate throughout the week as part of the observance of the Mental Health Awareness Week in the province of Benguet.

The Benguet Provincial Health Office (PHO), through its Mental Health Unit, kicks off the observance of the Mental Health Awareness Week in the province of Benguet.

Benguet Provincial Health Officer Dr. Meliarazon Dulay emphasized the importance of mental health awareness in reducing stigma, encouraging people to seek help early, and connecting those who are struggling with appropriate support and treatment.

Dulay said the PHO has lined up various activities throughout the week, including online activities, to engage the public and promote greater understanding of mental health.

The observance will culminate in a mental health fun run on October 10, 2026, from the Benguet Provincial Capitol to the Benguet Sports Complex.

The public is encouraged to participate in the activities and support the province’s mental health advocacy. The schedule and other details are available on the Benguet PHO’s official social media page.

Benguet senior citizens take on provincial government roles for a day

Senior citizens from the different municipalities of Benguet took over the roles of provincial officials during the Senior Citizens For-A-Day (SCOFAD).

The Benguet PSWDO presented the SCOFAD during the flag raising ceremony on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the provincial capitol.

Governor Melchor Diclas and Vice Governor Marie Rose Fongwan-Kepes led the sashing ceremonies to welcome the SCOFAD. Diclas also administered the oath of office to the SCOFAD.

SCOFAD Governor Roderick Albino of Tublay received the key of responsibility from Diclas while SCOFAD Vice Gov. Eugene Lasquite from Mankayan received the gavel and block from Fongwan-Kepes to symbolize the turn over of responsibilities and duties of the officials for the day.

The SCOFAD Board Members are Erlinda A. Calado of Sablan, Teresita M. Camsol of Buguias, Maria Lourdes C. Holman of Itogon, Agosto W. Parista of Kapangan, Telio S. Medon of Kabayan, Tony D. Delico of Bokod, Alejandro B. Placido of Tuba, William A. Lacbongan, Jr. of Atok, Joseph L. Cayad-an of Kibungan, Peter S. Cotiyam of Buguias, Gerry S. Sinong of Tuba, Albina A. Nierva of La Trinidad, and Nancy T. Balanban of Bakun.

Prior to the ceremonial turn over, the SCOFAD also led the flag raising ceremonies attended by the provincial officials and employees and reps from other line agencies and law enforcement agencies.

The SCOFAD initiative in the provincial government of Benguet was implemented through Provincial Ordinance No. 04-93. It has become one of the major activities in the celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week.

The DSWD-CAR, through the SWAD Mountain Province, extended financial assistance to the six families who lost their loved ones following a gas poisoning incident in a mining area in Itogon, Benguet recently.

The DSWD-CAR team, with the Local Government Unit of Itogon, through the MSWDO and MDRRMO, and the Local Government Unit of Tadian, visited the bereaved families in their homes in Tadian, Mountain Province to extend assistance and offer their presence and solidarity as the families grieve the loss of their loved ones.

The DSWD-CAR turned over P60,000 cash aid to the six families of the unfortunate incident.

The Itogon LGU also extended P30,000 in financial assistance and two cavans of rice to each affected family as part of its support to the bereaved families. (DSWD-CAR)

Kabayan Mayor Rex Alwin Aquisan issued Executive Order No. 53 series 2026, suspending work in all offices in the local government of Kabayan on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 1PM onwards in observance of the Family Day 2026.

The suspension of work aims to provide employees the opportunity to spend meaningful time with their families, in accordance with the constitutional mandate to strengthen family life and the national observance of Family Week.

A family-centered program will be conducted in the morning of October 2, highlighting activities and initiatives in line with Municipal Ordinance No. 166-20, which institutionalizes the Family Program in the municipality. (Kabayan LGU)

Bokod Mayor Erik Donn Ignacio announced the suspension of work in all offices in the municipal government of Bokod at 1PM onwards on Friday, October 2, 2026, in observance and in support of the “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day” and the National Family Week celebration.

Mayor Ignacio issued Executive Order No. 78 for the work suspension to allow government workers to head home, share a meal, and spend quality time with their families on October 2, 2026.

Offices and personnel involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster risk reduction and management, peace and order, other vital public services shall be on standby status to ensure continuous delivery of necessary public services.

Private establishments and institutions in Bokod are also highly encouraged to implement similar work arrangements or suspensions for their respective employees. (Bokod LGU)

Benguet State University held the “Ba’diw ya Binnadang for Sustainable Development: A Dialogue for Unity” today, September 30, 2026, at the BSU Gymnasium, La Trinidad, Benguet.

The activity is part of BSU’s 110th Foundation Anniversary and serves as the 5th and final dialogue in the series.

Focusing on SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, the dialogue brought together BSU administrators, faculty members, CPAG students, and student representatives from variuos BSU campuses.

The program fetaured a presentation by the BSU administration, an open forum with the media team and students, and a video presentation highlighting BSU’s initiatives towards sustainable development.
