May 30, 2026 | 𝙅𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙌𝙪𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙃𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙎𝙤𝙡𝙤 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙊𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (Lower Quirino Hill, West Quirino Hill, Middle and East Quirino Hill) was successfully conducted at West Quirino Hill.

Ms. Daria Bomogao from the Office of the Baguio Sanggunian lectured on 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩. Her key message resonated with all attendees: "To be a good leader, you must first be a good follower."

𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 followed in the afternoon. Sustainable farming through Hydroponics was taught by Kagawad Glen Ngolab. Thereafter, a hands-on demonstration of Atchara (pickled papaya) making, led by the Solo Parents Organization President Jennifer B. Lucas and member Princess Villarico from Lower Quirino Hill.

May 30, 2026 | Barangay Lower Quirino Hill’s 𝙋𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮 program held its pabasa session in an open-air classroom at Bayan Community Park, Aurora Hill, Baguio City.

Under the shade of pine trees, young learners doesn't have to feel like remediation. It can feel like play.

For couple of hours, the participants of the Barangay Pabasa program learned with the birds' chirping, under the open sky, surrounded by nature, where learning and recreation became one.

The Pabasa program continued at the Child Development Development Center (CDC), Lower Quirino Hill, with the assistance of the Child Development Worker, Ma'am Dominga Libalib, who patiently taught them.

Kudos to the Committee Chair on Education, Kagawad Sunny Aglibot for taking the lead, as well as Kagawad Leonora Avecilla, Kagawad Evelyn Cariño, SK Chair Robelisa, and volunteer parents for accompanying these young learners and bringing them closer to nature whilst learning.

May 21, 2026 | 𝙋𝙪𝙧𝙤𝙠 𝙆𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙪𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 was successfully conducted at the Basketball Court, Purok 5, Lower Quirino Hill, Baguio City.

The program commenced with a warm welcome from Punong Barangay Anselma Mayao. Thereafter, IEC lectures followed, covering 𝐬𝐦𝐨𝐤𝐞‑𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 policies, 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬, and 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲, which were conducted by personnel of BCPO Station 2. 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 (𝐁𝐋𝐒) was lectured by representatives from BFP Baguio. Participants were also encouraged to register with 𝙔𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙪𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 (𝐘𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐏).

For women participants, 𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 was offered, emphasizing that early detection saves lives. 𝙃𝙄𝙑 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 was also conducted privately and safely, helping break the stigma around the test. For vision care, free 𝐞𝐲𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 was provided.

Residents availed themselves of free 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤‑𝐮𝐩𝐬 and 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬. 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 sessions were held to support healthy families and minds.

𝐃𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐬 were distributed. A 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 took place, with donors hailed as heroes without capes. 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐃𝐑𝐄) was also offered to address men's prostate health.

We extend our profound gratitude to the health personnel of the 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 for their tireless service and for organizing the Purok Kalusugan Program; to the personnel of PNP 𝐁𝐂𝐏𝐎 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟐 for sharing their knowledge and expertise and for maintaining law and order; to the 𝐁𝐅𝐏 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 for their support in conducting the Basic Life Support lecture; to the representatives from 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 for assisting with registration; and to the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 for their support in the blood donation drive. Kudos also to the barangay officials, workers, and volunteers of Barangay Lower Quirino Hill, and to everyone who took part in making the program a success.

May 23, 2026 | Barangay Lower Quirino Hill launched the 2026 𝙋𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Lower Quirino Hill, Baguio City, in line with a city ordinance institutionalizing the program.

The city ordinance, principally-authored by 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐕𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐬, found its living voice as Councilor Cayabas himself stood as resource speaker, not to lecture, but to remind: 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. The 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐚 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦, chaired by Punong Barangay Anselma Mayao, with Co-chair Kagawad Sunny Aglibot and members Kagawad Jaime Munar, Kagawad Armando Quevedo, Kagawad Evelyn Cariño, and SK Chair Robelisa Baoyan, led the launching.

Pabasa sa Barangay is more than just a remedial measure. It is a philosophy: that reading deficiencies among the youth cannot be solved by classrooms alone. The program seeks to complement existing DepEd reading initiatives by taking them to the very ground where children live, the barangay. It recognizes that 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙𝙨.

Kudos to Barangay Kagawad Sunny Aglibot for tirelessly improving this corner and making it more welcoming, and thanks also to the Barangay Health Workers, Kagawad on Health and Nutrition Leonora Avecilla, and the Barangay Secretary for the aesthetics.
