LOOK | May 29, 2026 – The Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC), in collaboration with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) ng Pinget and the Barangay Reading Center (BRC), successfully conducted the tripartite event for children, namely, (1) the election of new BCPC officers for CY 2026-2027, (2) teambuilding activity, and (3) an educational tour and cultural immersion through museum visits.

The said event is in support of the principles of Presidential Decree No. 603 (Child and Youth Welfare Code), R.A. 9344 (Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006), and R.A. 8980 (Early Childhood Care and Development Act), which aim to promote and protect the overall well-being of children and youth. Aside from mobilizing social and civic participation among children, the event also aimed to impart knowledge and spark deep cultural appreciation among the participants.

The event began with a simple morning exercise, led by Intern Sheena Diaz, to awaken the children's enthusiasm. Afterwards, participants got to know more about each other through a series of icebreaker and teambuilding activities spearheaded by Child Development Worker (CDW) Ma’am Mhelisa Somilao and SK Chairperson Jude Sadlay. Later on, Barangay Human Rights Action Officer (BHRAO) Mr. Ramoncito Sanchez provided an orientation for the participants on the nature of the BCPC and children's rights. The brief lecture was followed by the election of new officers for CY 2026-2027, presided over by Kag. Julie Mangigil. The rest of the day was reserved for the museum tour.

On behalf of our community, we would like to thank Museo Kordilyera, Baguio Museum Inc., and SLU Museum of Igorot Cultures and Arts for warmly welcoming us. We deeply appreciate the museum staff and workers’ efforts and commitment to cultural preservation.

Moreover, the council would also like to extend its gratitude to the people who made the event possible: Kag. Victoriano G. Balidoc for safely transporting the children; Kag. Carmelita B. Ayan, Kag. Virginia C. Jose, Barangay Clerk (BC) Jocelyn G. Diaz, Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Gina Rose Lacatango, and Barangay Tanod (BT) Maribeth Gubat; volunteer parents and guardians Mrs. Breminda Alinso Sadlay, Ms. Jomelynne Alinso Sadlay, and Mrs. Julie Habiatan, for their help in overseeing the children and their unwavering support for the event.

Barangay Pinget BCPC Children’s Camp 2025 🎉(1/2)

In celebration of National Children’s Month, the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Pinget hosted a children’s camp on November 22–23, 2025, at the Barangay Pinget Multipurpose Hall and Admiral’s Farm Park. Anchored on this year’s theme, “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!” the two-day activity showcased a variety of sessions, including discussions on pressing issues affecting children and youth, team-building workshops, and group reflections.

Day 1—Participants assembled at the multipurpose hall, where the program began with a warm welcome message from Punong Barangay Pablo S. Pawi Jr. To energize the group, SK Sadlay facilitated an enjoyable introductory activity. This was followed by an orientation on children’s rights by Barangay Human Rights Action Officer (BHRAO) Ramoncito A. Sanchez, who emphasized the moral and legal foundations of these rights. A lecture on teenage pregnancy—an especially relevant topic for many participants—was then delivered by Kag. Carmelita B. Ayan, Chairperson of the Committee on Health.

Upon arriving at Admiral’s Farm Park, the participants set up their tents and belongings. They later engaged in team-building games prepared by the organizers, followed by leisure time and preparations before dinner.

After dinner, participants, parents, and barangay officials or volunteers gathered for a social night. During the bonfire activity, adults openly shared their personal experiences with underage drinking and smoking, imparting valuable lessons to the youth. Those who shared included barangay officials Kag. Irish S. Calaya, SK Chairperson Jude Sadlay, Kag. Roger A. Gacayan, Kag. Virginia C. Jose, BPAT Dante I. Bon-as, and BNS Antonette L. Gaco. Parents and guardians such as Mrs. Rosaria As-il and Mrs. Breminda A. Sadlay also recounted their insights. The heartfelt gathering aimed to help the children understand the consequences of engaging in these harmful behaviors.

SK Pinget extends its sincerest appreciation to the following:

● To Admirals Farm Park, for warmly welcoming and accommodating the group throughout their stay.

● To the volunteer parents and guardians—Ms. Jomelynne A. Sadlay, Mrs. Elvie Ayan, Mrs. Rosaria As-il, and Mrs. Emy Mangigil—for continuously supporting the children and offering assistance during the activity. Special thanks to Mrs. Breminda A.
