Bakakeng Elementary School demonstrated preparedness and resilience as teachers and school personnel swiftly implemented emergency response protocols following the sudden magnitude 4.5 earthquake that shook Baguio City today - July 9, 2026 @ 2:33 pm.

As soon as the tremor was felt, teachers immediately instructed learners to perform the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" procedure.
Once the shaking stopped, all students, teachers, and staff calmly evacuated to the school's designated safe assembly area. Class advisers promptly conducted headcounts to ensure that every learner and personnel was accounted for.

The quick and coordinated response reflected the school's commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of its learners and employees during emergencies. School officials also inspected the campus for any possible hazards while continuously monitoring updates from the appropriate authorities.

Our heartfelt appreciation is also extended to the SPTA Officers and parents for their immediate presence, cooperation, and unwavering support throughout the incident.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all members of the school community remained safe.

Bakakeng Elementary School reminds everyone that preparedness, presence of mind, and cooperation are essential in responding effectively to natural disasters.
