Malacañang Palace has declared September 11, 2026 a special non-working holiday in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. issued Proclamation No. 1389 declaring September 11, Friday, as a special non-working day, in lieu of September 13, which falls on a Sunday, to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1986 “Sipat” or the Mount Data Peace Accord.
To enable the people of Cordillera to fully participate in the occasion, the Regional Development Council – CAR, through its Chairperson, Apayao Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr., requested the date to be declared as a special (non-working) day in the region.
The day commemorates the 1986 peace talks between the national government and the Cordillera Bodong Administration - Cordillera People's Liberation Army (CBA-CPLA) at the historic Mount Data Hotel in Bauko, Mountain Province.
The agreement paved the way for the signing of Executive Order 220 on July 15, 1987 for the creation of the Cordillera Administrative Region and the inclusion of provisions in the Constitution creating the CAR in preparation to its becoming an autonomous region. - PIA Cordillera
