ICYMI | Residents of Baguio City avail of the free medical services during the Lung Health Caravan in observance of the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Week.
The medical services included chest X-rays, GeneXpert (sputum testing), HIV screening, and other lung health consultations, which were provided free to the public at Malcolm Square on Nov. 17 spearheaded by the Baguio City Health Services Office.
The activity mostly catered to dialysis patients, diabetics, hypertensive individuals, construction workers, vendors, drivers, and other community members seeking accessible health services.
Dr. Louella De Leon, a pulmonologist at Baguio City General Hospital and Medical Center, also delivered a lecture on preventing lung-related diseases. She emphasized the importance of early detection, avoiding smoking and va**ng, maintaining a clean environment, and seeking regular medical check-ups.
Additional discussions were provided on tuberculosis prevention and treatment, along with practical tips to help individuals quit smoking and va**ng.
