GES Kicks Off ARAL Summer Program

Gibraltar Elementary School formally launched the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Summer Program in Reading and Mathematics on May 5 at 1:00 p.m., through a parents’ orientation at the Grade 3 Peace Classroom.

Parents of identified learners and volunteer ARAL teachers attended the launch and orientation, marking the start of the school’s implementation of the national ARAL initiative.

Learners were selected based on the results of the Comprehensive Rapid Literacy Assessment (CRLA) for Key Stage 1, the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (PHIL-IRI) for Key Stage 2, and the Rapid Mathematics Assessment (RMA).

Almost 50 learners are expected to attend the summer classes starting on May 6.

Among the volunteer teachers are Emilia O. Bolinget, Eleonor Kate F. Dangbis, Mary Ann S. Diosan, Jonalyn M. Moling, Lorelie J. Ronquillo and Antonio L. Siblagan.

During the orientation, Liza L. Polled, the school’s ARAL coordinator, explained that the program is intended to provide targeted academic support for learners needing intervention in literacy and numeracy.
