✨ We kicked off with a meaningful parent-child tree planting activity alongside Hon. Vladimir Cayabas parent. Teachers and learner and partners.
our commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

The 'Painting for a Cause' segment showcased the amazing talents of our learners with special needs, proving that every mind holds unique creative gifts worth sharing. As a parent-child collaboration, these artworks reflect the power of teamwork and inclusion.

The auction was truly amazing – parents and Kiwanis stepped up to purchase pieces, and the paintings will continue to be auctioned to extend our reach! Proceeds will support sustainability of the activity with a portion dedicated to the medical needs of those with learners with special needs.

The Schools Division Office (SDO) Baguio showed wonderful support, represented by Jayre Rose Guevara, District 6 Supervisor, who noted this initiative is an excellent example of inclusion.

Aguinaldo Elementary School recently earned top honors as Most Learning Focused in the Big School Category of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) program, and has since opened its doors to share its award-winning initiatives with fellow educators.

Just two weeks ago, the school hosted a visit from Adiwang Integrated School; today, January 8, 2026, it welcomed Manuel Roxas Elementary School to benchmark on its standout practices centered on Project HANDA and the acclaimed ARAL Reading Program. In the school office, Aguinaldo’s principal presented performance data showing how the ARAL Program drastically reduced non-readers—a key outcome of their learning-focused approach—while Project HANDA built an inclusive environment that supports learners of all backgrounds and abilities. Visiting teams toured all classrooms, each one ARAL-ready with vibrant instructional materials tailored to every learner’s needs, then explored two complementary specialized spaces: the Madrasah Room, where Muslim learners attend ARAL remedial reading lessons alongside Muslim cultural and religious classes, and the Learning Resource Center (LRC), which hosts pull-out classes and teaches lifelong skills like cooking, baking, and self-help techniques. They also visited the Wellness Room for students’ emotional well-being, and viewed displays from the sewing subject featuring beautifully crafted pillowcases made by students, demonstrating technical skills and creativity.

After each visit, participating schools evaluated the session and exchanged certificates of appreciation; educators from Adiwang Integrated have already begun planning how to adopt practices, while the Manuel Roxas delegation committed to doing the same today. Aguinaldo’s leadership emphasized: “This win as Most Learning Focused – Big School Category is not just an achievement for us – it’s a call to share what works, so every learner across Baguio and the Cordillera can thrive.”

District 6 Harvests Thanks, Plants Hope

In a fitting close to the academic year, the School Heads and Public Schools District Supervisor of District 6 gathered today at the serene UM-A Farm in Tuba, Benguet, for a half-day-long fellowship titled “Harvesting Thanks, Planting Hope.” The activity blended structured reflection, symbolic acts, and shared fellowship to honor the year’s journey and sow intentions for the year ahead.
A highlight of the morning was the inspirational message delivered by SDS, Soraya T. Faculo, PhD, Ceso V, who emphasized leadership anchored in data, blame-free positivity, and the creation of safe, conducive school environments. She reminded the body of the importance of listening deeply to both learners and teachers, and of leading with gratitude—a theme that resonated throughout the day’s activities.
Participants then engaged in a paired sharing of “small wins,” an exercise that sparked reflection and smiles, followed by the “Harvest of Gratitude,” where each member offered three seeds of thanks—one professional, one personal, and one for a colleague within the district. This practice nurtured a culture of appreciation and mutual recognition.
The symbolic gift-giving that followed was designed to emphasize meaning over material value. Through a playful exchange, each gift became a token of goodwill, reinforcing the spirit of generosity without financial weight.
A poignant moment came with the symbolic planting of coffee seedlings, representing each leader’s commitment to nurture a specific area of growth in the coming year. Participants also received coffee seeds to plant at home—a living reminder of the hopes sown collectively at the farm. Against the backdrop of UM-A Farm’s tranquil scenery, the day was filled with light moments, heartfelt exchanges, and ample photo opportunities that captured the joy and connection shared by all.
More than a year-end activity, this fellowship served as food for the heart and soul—an intentional pause to honor the past, celebrate the present, and plant hope intentionally for the future. District 6 continues to cultivate leadership that is not only effective but also humane, grateful, and rooted in positivity.

AGUINALDO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHAMPIONS MADRASAH & INCLUSIVE EDUCATION THROUGH PROJECT HANDA

Aguinaldo Elementary School proudly recognizes the dedication of our 155 Madrasah learners and our 7 committed Asatidz who continue to demonstrate excellence, discipline, and love for learning every day.

Aligned with DepEd’s ARAL Program and our flagship Project HANDA — Harnessing Adaptive Nurturing Developmental Actions for Learning Continuity, 55 Madrasah learners receive daily ARAL Remediation from 9:30 AM to 9:50 AM, strengthening foundational literacy skills, including reading the Qur’an and developing essential learning competencies.

Before regular classes begin, our learners attend Madrasah Regular Sessions from 6:40 AM onwards, utilizing our regular classrooms as a safe, inclusive, and culture-responsive learning space.

This dual support system reflects Aguinaldo Elementary School’s unwavering commitment to inclusive, adaptive, and developmental learning pathways for all learners.

Indeed, Aguinaldo does not only champion Madrasah—Aguinaldo champions INCLUSIVE EDUCATION through Project HANDA and the ARAL Program.

A day of learning and collaboration!

Today, December 8, 2025, at 3:20 PM, Adiwang Integrated School visited Aguinaldo Elementary for a benchmarking activity focused on game-changing best practices.

Helen Culaling Acop, the school principal kicked things off by walking the team through the school’s data dashboard, then led room-to-room visits that left Adiwang’s school head and 8 teachers truly appreciative.

The practices highlighted included HANDA: Harnessing Adaptive, Nurturing, and Developmental Action for Learning Continuity (addressing gaps in CRLA results), Project Smart Start, and Project TIKLa (focused on localizing teaching and learning).
ILka Bedecao, school Aral coordinator, demonstrated how those materials are being used for the learners.
The team has already committed to implementing these initiatives in their own school — because best practices should be shared for it to be accessible, impactful, and to elevate teaching and learning for every student across campuses.

DepEd CO visits ARAL Implementer Aguinaldo ES

Atty. Ariz Cawilan, DRRM Director IV of DepEd Central Office with Regional supervisors, along with Schools Division Superintendent Soraya T. Faculo and supervisors from SDO Baguio City inspired Aguinaldo ES when they came to observe their ARAL implementation on September 16.

The team observed a Grade 2 demo teaching session by Teacher Jenny B. Magbanua, with 14 learners actively participating in activity-based and peer-sharing lessons.

School Head Helen C. Acop, along with PTA and barangay representatives, shared feedbacks on the program's progress. In a short forum, the school reported that ARAL sessions are conducted after class, dedicating 30 minutes to Math and English. Best practices include a "Learning Lounge", Project Harvest, Project HANDA, where parents are taught reading strategies and various learning experiences are offered by the school. Volunteers, including a retired teacher and student-teachers, serve as tutors in reading.

The event ran smoothly due to the intensive technical assistance of PSDS Jayrerose Guevara, who was present both the day before and during the event.

The school remarked that they grabbed the opportunity to be monitored to learn from the wisdom of our DepEd leaders who all agreed that teacher Jenny is excellent in her task.

PTA president Grace Almogela committed to support ARAL by helping every child read, with the support of Lower Barangay GEFA Lower QM.
