INHS, Soroptimist International-Baguio Ink Pact to Empower Female Students

Irisan National High School (INHS) and Soroptimist International-Baguio formalized a partnership aimed at strengthening female studentsโ€™ leadership skills, career readiness, and personal development through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on August 27, 2026.

INHS Principal Grace M. Domingo and Soroptimist International-Baguio President Benilda Z. Narcelles led the signing ceremony in the presence of Punong Barangay Arthur Carlos of Barangay Irisan.

Also witnessing the signing were Brenda Contada and Julie Tecag of INHS, Estella Florento of Soroptimist International-Baguio, and other officers and members of the organization.

Under the agreement, Soroptimist International-Baguio adopted INHS as a beneficiary of its advocacy programs for young women. The partnership will provide female students with opportunities designed to develop their leadership potential and prepare them for future academic and professional pursuits.

Among the planned initiatives are leadership trainings, workshops, and seminars; career counseling and orientation to guide students in choosing college programs or employment opportunities; and activities promoting skills development, personal growth, and the advancement of women.

Through the partnership, Soroptimist International-Baguio seeks to equip young women with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to make informed decisions about their future and overcome barriers to achieving their goals.

Domingo and Carlos expressed their appreciation for the organizationโ€™s initiative, highlighting the importance of collaboration among schools, local government units, and civic organizations in creating opportunities for the youth.

The partnership is expected to provide INHS female students with additional avenues to develop their potential, explore career opportunities, and become confident young leaders in their school and community.

Irisan Barangay, BMC Forestry Donates Solibao to INHS

In a continuing effort to promote and preserve Cordillera culture among the youth, the Irisan Barangay Hall formally turned over a solibao, a traditional Cordilleran drum, to the Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED) Room of Irisan National High School (INHS) on August 20, 2026.

The solibao was donated by BMC Forestry Corporation โ€“ Irisan Lime Project and Benguet Corporation Irisan Comrel through the initiative of its Community Relations Officer, Lorena Galejo, as part of the companyโ€™s support for the schoolโ€™s cultural education programs. Punong Barangay Arthur Carlos, together with Barangay Kagawad Esther Litilit, led the official turnover of the traditional instrument to the school administration. The ceremony was witnessed by Mary Joy Sajonia, INHS IPED Coordinator, and Jeffrey Batalang, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) President, who expressed their appreciation for the continued support of the barangay and BMC Forestry Corporation to the school. The donation adds to BMC Forestry Corporationโ€™s previous contribution to INHS, a complete set of seven gangsa, or traditional gongs, which were also donated to support the schoolโ€™s efforts in strengthening cultural education. The solibao and gangsa will serve as valuable learning resources for students, providing them with opportunities to develop their knowledge, appreciation, and skills in playing traditional Cordilleran instruments as part of the schoolโ€™s IPED curriculum. With the addition of the solibao, the school is now closer to completing its collection of traditional instruments.

โ€œAlmost complete! But we are still waiting for the gimbal to complete the set,โ€ said INHS Principal Grace Domingo, expressing gratitude while looking at the instruments donated to the school.

The continued collaboration among the barangay, private sector, and INHS highlights the importance of community partnerships in keeping Cordilleran cultural traditions alive and passing them on to the younger generation.

DepEd Central Office Fulfills Promise as Wireless Lapel Microphones Reach INHS

Teachers and non-teaching personnel of Irisan National High School (INHS) received portable speakers today, August 14, 2026 as part of the commitment promised by the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office.

INHS Administrative Officer II Cherry Padonga said that 81 portable speakers were given to INHS personnel. The distribution brought excitement among the teachers as the speakers were personally received and acknowledged by the teachers. The activity also included the checking and documentation of the distributed units to ensure proper accountability and receipt of the equipment.
The Department of Education (DepEd) is distributing wireless lapel microphones to public school teachers nationwide to ease the vocal strain of long hours of teaching. It is funded through the Office of the President Social Fund, this initiative was personally backed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and spearheaded by DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara.

The provision of the speakers is seen as a welcome support to the school personnel, particularly in strengthening communication and facilitating school activities that require audio equipment.

INHS personnel expressed appreciation for the assistance, recognizing the importance of providing teachers and school employees with appropriate resources that can help make their work more efficient. The turnover of the speakers also highlights the importance of responsive support from the Department in addressing the practical needs of its personnel at the school level.
