๐ง ๐ถ REWIRE: Neuroplasticity Through Movement and Music ๐ถ๐ง
Learn. Move. Create. Connect. Heal.
What if movement could help us heal, music could help us reconnect, and creativity could open new pathways for well-being? ๐ฑโจ
On September 3โ4, 2026, the HSO โ Mental Health and Substance Use Wellness Unit brought this idea to life through a two-day workshop held at El Cielito Hotel, Baguio City, with participants from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-CAR, our service users, and their carers.
REWIRE explored the remarkable capacity of the brain to adapt, change, and grow through neuroplasticity, while discovering how music, movement, mindfulness, yoga, and creative expression can support emotional wellness, resilience, and recovery. ๐
DAY 1 | Understanding & Creating
The day began with Ms. Emarose Gumaru of Slow Mornings, who explored How Music Shapes the Brain and the role of movement and dance in supporting brain and emotional health. This was followed by Dra. Florilyn Joyce Cabanilla, who shared valuable insights on Neuroplasticity in Special Populations: Dementia. The day continued with Ms. Jingle Melanie Marquez, who introduced participants to Neurographic Art, turning creativity into an avenue for reflection, self-expression, and connection.
DAY 2 | Moving & Reconnecting
The second day opened with a rejuvenating Yoga and Mindful Movement Session facilitated by Dra. Gwendolyn Cayad, encouraging participants to slow down, breathe, reconnect with their bodies, and be present in the moment. The day continued with engaging activities led by Ms. Emarose Gumaru of Slow Mornings and Ms. Jingle Melanie Marquez, allowing participants to experience the power of music, movement, and creative expression firsthand.
More than just a workshop, REWIRE was a shared experience of learning, movement, creativity, connection, and hope.
Because sometimes, caring for our mental health begins with something as simple as moving our bodies, listening to a song, creating something, taking a breath, and allowing ourselves to reconnect.
Letโs continue to REWIRE, reconnect, and rediscover the many pathways toward mental wellness. ๐ง ๐
