As part of the schoolโ€™s continuous commitment to safety and facility improvement, the installation of safety grills at the Lower Ground Comfort Room (CR) has been successfully completed under the Brigada on the Go initiative.

The project aimed to enhance the security and protection of learners by installing sturdy safety barriers in identified areas of concern. These improvements help prevent accidents and ensure a safer environment, especially in frequently used spaces like the comfort rooms.

The successful completion of the project was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Sir Audry Talabis, with strong support from the schoolโ€™s non-teaching personnel. Their teamwork and commitment reflect the true spirit of Brigada Eskwela, extending beyond scheduled activities to address urgent school needs.

Completed on April 20, 2026, this initiative highlights the schoolโ€™s proactive approach in maintaining a safe, secure, and learner-friendly environment.

The Department of Education Baguio Schools Division has reinforced its commitment to eliminating va**ng and smoking among students by issuing Division Memorandum No. 392-2025, supporting the cityโ€™s Smoke-Free Ordinance.

Dr. Arlene Awing, Medical Officer of the DepEd SDO Baguio, highlights this reiteration, aligning with existing DepEd and SDO guidelines prohibiting to***co use and electronic ni****ne delivery systems in schools.

Key provisions of the policies include: Strictly prohibiting smoking and va**ng in all areas of schools and DepEd offices. Selling, advertising, and promoting to***co and e-cigarette products within a 100-meter radius of any school or DepEd office are strictly prohibited.

Disciplinary actions are to be directed by school heads and offices in accordance with existing rules and regulations for any violation of these policies. Employees are reminded to set a positive example for students by strictly adhering to this policy. We invite everyone to take an active role in creating a 100% cigarette smoke- and vape-free environment for the benefit of the entire school community.

This March 24, 2026, the Department of Education released DepEd Order No. 006, s. 2026 titled Guidelines on Ensuring a Safe and Motivating Learning Environment. Consistent with the DepEdโ€™s principle of promoting the welfare, safety, and security of learners, the Guidelines on Ensuring a Safe and Motivating Learning Environment are hereby adopted.

This Order reflects the DepEdโ€™s commitment to promoting the welfare, safety, and motivating environment, with particular focus on mitigating cases of LRP (child abuse, violence, bullying, etc.) concerns nationwide.

Both of these actions are DepEdโ€™s commitment to providing spaces for enrichment and growth for students nationwide.

DepEd roots its order from the Cityโ€™s comprehensive anti-va**ng and anti-smoking ordinance number 34, series of 2017, regulating its use, sale, and distribution within the city, and RA 11900 or the Vaporized Ni****ne and Non-Ni****ne Products Regulation Act of 2022. Respectively, the ordinance prevents the sale of vapes and ci******es within a 100-meter radius of a school, while RA 11900 prohibits the sale of flavored vapes.

Springhills Elementary School successfully conducted its Fourth Quarter General Assembly on March 28, 2026, at the school grounds, bringing together parents, guardians, teachers, and stakeholders in a shared commitment to strengthen school programs and initiatives.

One of the key highlights of the assembly was the presentation of the proposed 3-Term School Calendar for School Year 2026-2027, which aims to enhance instructional time and improve learning outcomes. The school also outlined its ways forward for School Year 2025โ€“2026, focusing on sustaining and improving school performance indicators, increasing learner attendance, and reinforcing discipline through proper school uniform and hygiene practices. Emphasis was given to daily habits such as handwashing and toothbrushing, alongside the promotion of the schoolโ€™s Pansa-nopen practices to instill responsibility and cleanliness among learners.

Transparency and accountability were also highlighted through the presentation of the SPTA Financial Report, ensuring that stakeholders remain informed of the associationโ€™s financial standing and expenditures.

A significant decision was reached regarding the upcoming Brigada Eskwela priority project. The installation of safety grills in front of the Grade 5 and Grade 6 classrooms was unanimously supported by the majority of attendees. It was agreed that all remaining SPTA funds will be allocated to support this important safety initiative, reflecting the communityโ€™s shared commitment to learner protection.

Another meaningful highlight of the event was the donation of toothbrushing kits from the BANGAD Group, in partnership with Kagawad Nafianog and Kagawad Malong. This initiative, now on its third year, continues to promote proper hygiene among learners through sustained support for the schoolโ€™s health programs. The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to the BANGAD Group for their generosity and continued service to the community. โ€œMay your tribe increase,โ€ as a sign of appreciation for their enduring commitment.

The Fourth Quarter General Assembly concluded successfully, marked by unity, transparency, and a shared vision for a better and healthier learning environment for all learners of Springhills Elementary School.

The school also extends its heartfelt gratitude to all parents and to the SPTA Officers, led by President Olarte Kayob, for a fruitful and successful School Year 2025โ€“2026. Together, let us continue our strong partnership as we strive to make School Year 2026โ€“2027 even more meaningful and impactful.
