BAGUIO CITY — The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – CAR (RTWPB-CAR) successfully led a learning session titled "Smart Productivity: Transforming MSMEs Through Digital Innovation" on May 30, 2026, at the University of the Cordilleras.

The training was held as a breakout session during the two-day 2026 MSME Innovation Summit, an initiative organized by the City Government of Baguio, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the University of the Cordilleras. The summit gathered entrepreneurs from Baguio and Benguet to access vital government and financial services.

The session, attended by small business owners, livelihood associations, and entrepreneurial students, focused on practical, jargon-free strategies to boost business efficiency. RTWPB-CAR speakers Atty. Carolina Lim-Gamban and Mr. Israel Boleyley discussed:

• Digital Readiness: Shifting from manual to digital methods to improve daily operations.
• Tech as a Productivity Tool: Using simple digital solutions to save time and lower costs.
• AI & Safety Basics: An easy introduction to AI tools and protecting business data online.
• The Human Factor: Preparing and supporting team members through digital changes.
• Action Planning: Helping participants create a simple roadmap to adopt these tools immediately.

RTWPB-CAR remains committed to equipping local businesses with the digital skills needed to stay competitive and resilient.

𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: From working student to public servant, 𝐌𝐲𝐤𝐢𝐞 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐀. 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐚𝐥 transformed challenges into opportunities through determination and hard work. While pursuing her studies and supporting herself financially, she balanced part-time jobs and academic responsibilities before becoming a beneficiary of the Government Internship Program (GIP) of DOLE. The experience helped her develop valuable skills and gain meaningful exposure to government service. Today, she serves as a Contract of Service TUPAD Coordinator at the DOLE Baguio-Benguet Field Office, assisting clients and helping implement employment programs that benefit workers and communities.

BAGUIO CITY — The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board–Cordillera Administrative Region (RTWPB-CAR) conducted a training on the 7S of Good Housekeeping for informal sector workers during the Linggo ng Paggawa celebration organized by the Department of Labor and Employment–Cordillera Administrative Region (DOLE-CAR) on May 28, 2026, at the Veniz Hotel Corporation in Baguio City.

The activity formed part of the 2026 Labor Day festivities and aimed to strengthen and empower workers in the informal sector through capacity-building initiatives and access to government programs and services. DOLE-CAR Regional Director Imelda E. Romanillos, CESO IV, opened the activity by underscoring the vital role that informal workers play in the local economy and the government's commitment to building their capacity.

As part of our commitment to boosting the efficiency of our local workforce, RTWPB-CAR led a specialized Productivity Training on the 7S of Good Housekeeping. The session, conducted by Supervising Labor and Employment Officer, Ms. Jo-ann M. Borja, provided participants with practical, easy-to-implement tools to organize their workspace, minimize waste, improve safety, and increase their daily business output.

RTWPB-CAR continues to bring essential productivity concepts directly to grassroots workers, helping them build sustainable livelihoods.

DOLE-CAR joins the Global Community in celebration of the 2026 World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL) on June 12 with various activities:

In its endeavor to raise awareness, knowledge and understanding of the public on the realities of child labor and its worst forms, the DOLE-CAR has scheduled several activities with the national theme “Ikaw, Ako, Tayo: Sama-samang Pagkilos para sa Batang Malaya” as anchored in the global premise of "Red card to child labour: Fair play for children, decent work for adults".
World Day Against Child labor (WDACL) activities are:
a) May 29 - June 5: Submission of entries for the photo contest (college category) on the theme "Ikaw, Ako, Tayo: Sama-samang Pagkilos para sa Batang Malaya".
b) - Judging of entries for the CLPEP Photo contest@ DOLE CAR;
c) June 2 & 10: Orientation on RA 9231 & the Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP): 3/F DOLE CAR Bldg., Cabinet Hill, Baguio City @ 9:30 am;
d) June 11: - WDACL Fun Walk @ 8:30 am from Upper Session Road down to Igorot Band Stand, Melvin Jones, Baguio City;
- Painting Contest for High School & Poster making contest for elementary on the theme "Ikaw, Ako, Tayo: Sama-samang Pagkilos para sa Batang Malaya";
June 12: "Project Angel Tree": A gift-giving and social services program that provides profiled child laborers with school supplies, food, hygiene kits, and medical/dental care. The program works by partnering with generous sponsors, benefactors, and private organizations known as "angels" who grant the children's basic needs and wishes. The activity starts at 2:00 pm, Sky Zone, Porta Vaga Mall, Baguio City.

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? A former JobStart beneficiary from Baguio City is now working as a Welder and Painter in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. After facing challenges in securing employment as a fresh graduate, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐋𝐡𝐨𝐲𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐲-𝐎𝐠 joined the JobStart Program, where he developed valuable workplace skills, gained confidence, and acquired the experience that helped him achieve his dream of working abroad.
