A MOMENT OF SILENCE — As we celebrate three years of service since graduation, we honor the memories of our mistahs who have gone before us.

May we offer a one-minute prayer for our fallen mistahs — Dormi, Telan, Agpi, and DeanB. You will forever remain a cherished part of the MADASIGON Class of 2023. ✨

Three years ago today, the Philippine Military Academy MADASIGON Class of 2023 marched on the Long Gray Line and took our place in service to the nation.

Today, as we quietly celebrate our 3rd Graduation Anniversary, we do so with gratitude, humility, and remembrance. The years since graduation have tested us in ways PMA prepared us for — through duty stations, deployments, victories, sacrifices, and the lifelong brotherhood and sisterhood we carry wherever we go.

As MADASIGON marks another year, may we continue to live by the values instilled in us — to serve with courage, lead with integrity, and never forget those who came before us and those we stand beside today.

In a solemn tribute, soldiers honored the life and sacrifice of Captain Dean Buen Oyando; a soldier who embodied the true meaning of service, courage, and selfless devotion to the Filipino people.

During the vigil held at Libingan ng mga Bayani, 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division Commander Major General Ramon Zagala awarded the late Captain Dean Buen Oyando, the Gold Cross Medal (Posthumous), one of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ award for gallantry in combat recognizing his heroism in Occidental Mindoro.

The ceremony was witnessed by his mother and family, whose presence made the tribute even more profound.

The Commanding General of the Philippine Army, Lieutenant General Antonio Nafarrete, also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Captain Oyando’s sacrifice will continue to inspire soldiers to serve the nation with courage, honor, and dedication.

A feature Story for our Mistah,
CPT. DEAN B OYANDO (INF) PA

“A reunion no one planned.
A farewell no one was ready for.”

We came as soldiers.
We stood as brothers.
We leave carrying his name, his story, his fight.

Gone, but never left behind.

Rest In Peace, Mistah.

“𝑫𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅. 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒆.”

This was the leadership philosophy Dean wrote in his Leadership Profile during his 1CL year in the Academy—one he lived by until his final breath.

With deep sorrow, we honor an Army officer and a mistah who gave his life, bravely serving the Filipino people. True to his words, he pressed on to fulfill the mission, offering his life for the peace and security of our nation until his last breath.

His courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to duty will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, mistah. Heaven has gained another MADASIGON angel. 🕊
