DepEd Davao Region is encouraging all its teachers, personnel, education leaders, and learners, together with their parents, to read passages in the Bible as part of the observance of National Bible Month in January.

It also encourages the teachers to include passages from the Bible in all their reading activities, especially the Learning Camp Fridays, also known as Catch-Up Fridays.

Rev. Rueland Badoy, the Davao coordinator of the National Bible Month 2024 celebration, said the development and transformation cannot happen without the moral and spiritual aspects.

β€œWe believe that the moral and spiritual enhancement and development should be given equal priority,” he added.

This Bible reading is intensified through Republic Act 11163, known as An Act Declaring the Last Monday of January Every Year as a Special Working Holiday in Observance of National Bible Day.

The Presidential Proclamation No. 124 also declares January of every year as National Bible Month, culminating in the last week as National Bible Week.

The National Bible Month 2024 is themed β€œGod’s Word: The Breath of New Life”.

JUST IN | DBM releases guidelines on the grant of 2023 SRI

To commemorate the invaluable contribution of civil servants to public service, the Department of Budget and Management has released the guidelines for the grant of the FY 2023 Service Recognition Incentive (SRI), following the issuance of Administrative Order (AO) No. 12 s. 2023.

Beginning December 15, 2023, all qualified government personnel shall receive a one-time SRI grant not exceeding Php 20,000, subject to the conditions under Budget Circular Letter No. 2023-2.

JUST IN: The House of Representatives passed two bills on their final reading to promote environmental sustainability.

1. House Bill 9587: This bill mandates parents to plant two trees for every child born to them. Planting these trees is required to release their child's birth certificate.

2. The second bill requires graduating senior high school and college students, with exceptions for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and those with special needs, to plant two trees as a prerequisite for graduation.
