A strong partnership between the media and military was reinforced as the 86th Infantry โ€œHighlanderโ€ Battalion hosted a Media Fellowship at its headquarters in Brgy. Villaros, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya.

The activity brought together media practitioners from Nueva Vizcaya and Isabela, including representatives from 104.9 XFM Santiago City, 104.5 Radyo Natin News FM, 1223 KHz DWRV-AM Radyo Veritas Bayombong, 101.3 Big Sound FM, 1179 KHz DWET Life Radio Santiago City, 92.9 Brigada News FM, 98.5 IFM Cauayan, PIA Nueva Vizcaya, and the Nueva Vizcaya Press Club.

The program featured a friendly fun shoot competition, socialization, a boodle fight lunch and an interaction between the 86IB personnel and media partners. The activity created space for open conversation, shared experiences, and strengthening the relationship between the unit and members of the media community.

Certificates of appreciation were likewise presented to media partners in recognition of their invaluable services to the 86IB by championing the goals, objectives, and advocacies of the unit through broadcast and social media, making them indispensable partners in service to the Filipino people and the nation.

In his message, Ltc Rod A. Babaran Jr., Commanding Officer of 86IB, thanked the participants for their continued support and acknowledged the importance of sustained coordination and open communication in advancing peace and development efforts within the unitโ€™s area of operations.

The 86IB reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strong and transparent engagement with media partners as part of its continuing efforts to promote peace, security, and community development.

The Municipality of Tanudan conducted a Peace Forum and unveiled its Stable Internal Peace and Security (SSIPS) Marker on 25 May 2026 following the flag-raising ceremony at the Multi-Purpose Hall in Poblacion, Tanudan, Kalinga.

The activity gathered personnel from the 103rd Infantry Battalion, the 1405th Community Defense Center, local government officials, barangay leaders, PNP personnel, and representatives from various government agencies in a unified demonstration of support for peace, security, and development in the municipality.

During the forum, MAJ Rely Barungan highlighted how the Province of Kalinga achieved stable peace and eventually became insurgency-free through the collective efforts of communities, local government units, security forces, and stakeholders under the Whole-of-Nation Approach. He emphasized that the peace currently enjoyed by the province was achieved through sacrifice, cooperation, and sustained commitment from all sectors.

He further stressed that preserving peace and order is essential in attracting investments, strengthening public confidence, and fostering continuous growth and development in the community.

MAJ Barungan also presented key peace and development initiatives being implemented in Kalinga, including Kalinga Para sa Kalinga (KPSK), Paggipigsa ti CAA iti Kalinga (PTCK), Revitalized Kalinga Local Integration Program (RKLIP), and the Kalinga Convergence for Community Resilient Empowerment, Sustainability, and Transformation (KCREST).

Meanwhile, LTC Dexter Dantog discussed reservist affairs and encouraged community participation in the reserve force, emphasizing the vital role of reservists in supporting national defense and community security.
The activity culminated with the unveiling and blessing of the SSIPS Marker, symbolizing Tanudanโ€™s continuing commitment to preserving peace, unity, and sustainable development for future generations.
