LOOK: Last May 26 and 28, 2026, the Rural Health Unit of Bacacay, in partnership with DOH Bicol CHD, conducted the Training on Cervical Cancer Screening through Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) attended by Human Resources for Health and Rural Health Midwives.

The activity was facilitated by Ms. Grealen Nolasco-Bremen, HPO II, DOH Bicol CHD; Ms. Ma. Glenlee V. Magbanua, CCP Coordinator, RHU Guinobatan; Ms. Julie Ann L. Granadino, Regional Program Manager - CCP, DOH Bicol CHD; and Dr. Maria Christina Miguel-Nepomuceno, CCP Coordinator, RHU Bacacay.

Under the guidance of Dr. Merlie Gomez Beltran, Municipal Health Officer, this training strengthened the participants’ knowledge and skills in promoting women’s health and cervical cancer prevention.

This reflects the shared goal of RHU Bacacay and DOH Bicol CHD in creating a healthier future for every Bacacayana. 💜🩷

Earlier today: Day 2 of the BHW Basic Training Course at Bacacay East Central School was successfully conducted, with all 105 BHWs still present and actively participating. 💪

Among the topics discussed were “Sampung Rekomendadong Halamang Gamot ng DOH” by Maam Rosemarie Bibal, RHM, “Community Mobilization and DRRM-H” by Dr. Rama Olbes, and “Oral Health” by Dr. Agnes Serrano.

During the afternoon session, “Primary Services and BHWs as Health Promotion Officers at the Barangay Level” were discussed by Maam Wylen O. Banday, PHN. Priority Areas 1 and 2 “Move More, Eat Right and Be Clean, Live Sustainably” were discussed by Melgen Ryan Batalla, NDP, while Priority Area 3 “Get Vaccinated and the National Tuberculosis Program” were discussed by Maam Sharon Besmonte, PHN.

Tomorrow will be the last day of the training, and game na game pa rin ang ating mga BHWs! 👏

Happening now: Day 1 of the BHW Basic Training at Bacacay East Central School.

Under the guidance of Dr. Merlie Beltran, MHO, the 3-day training is now in full swing and will run until Friday, May 22, 2026. This aims to strengthen and support our Barangay Health Workers in performing their duties more efficiently in the community.

We thank Hon. Faith Torre, Committee Chair on Health, for delivering the welcome message and setting a positive tone for the start of the training.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Hon. Mayor Nookie Bombales for dropping by and delivering a message of commitment and support for our BHWs.

Among the lecturers in the morning session were Dr. Maria Christina Miguel-Nepomuceno, RHP, Melgen Batalla, NDP, and Geraldine Borillo, NDP.

This activity is an important step toward the accreditation of all BHWs in Bacacay. A step toward better skills, recognition, and improved health services for our communities.

One step at a time for a healthier Bacacay, Albay. 🫰

BP Today, Iwas Complications Tomorrow 🩺

Despite the heat and long hours under the ☀️, Week 1 and Week 2 of May Measurement Month 2026 continue full swing.

Game na game pa rin ang ating health workers as they go from barangay to barangay para mag-BP screening at PHILPEN risk assessment. Walang patid ang serbisyo kahit mainit at nakakapagod basta para sa kalusugan ng komunidad. 😉

May Measurement Month 2026 will run until the last week of June, kaya tuloy-tuloy ang paglilibot natin to reach more Bacacayanos aged 20 above for early detection of hypertension and other health risks. Importante talaga ang regular BP check at BMI assessment para maagapan agad ang possible complications ❤️

Kaya lahat na tayo magpa-bp today para iwas complications tomorrow!
