𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to community service and nation-building, Coast Guard Station Island Garden City of Samal (CGS IGACOS), together with its Sub stations and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) 802nd Squadron, actively participated in the nationwide Brigada Eskwela 2026 campaign in various public elementary and secondary schools throughout the Island Garden City of Samal.

Personnel from CGS IGACOS, its sub-stations, and PCGA 802nd Squadron rendered their time and effort in preparing school facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for students ahead of the opening of classes. Activities included classroom cleaning, repainting, repair of school fixtures, landscaping, waste management, and other campus improvement initiatives.

The collective effort reflects the Philippine Coast Guard’s steadfast dedication to supporting the education sector and strengthening partnerships with local communities. The activity also highlights the Coast Guard’s commitment to the ICARE (Intensified Community Assistance Awareness Response Engagement) Program, which promotes active community involvement and responsive public service. In line with the directives of President FERDINAND R MARCOS JR toward improving educational opportunities and strengthening whole-of-government support for community development, CGS IGACOS and its partner stakeholders remain committed to extending meaningful public service beyond their maritime mandates.

IN PHOTOS: Personnel from SOU-IGACOS together with personnel from SOG-SEM successfully conducted a two-day Comprehensive Biophysical Assessment Dive at the vicinity waters of Liguid Dako, Barangay Ballet, Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) on 20-21 May 2026. The activity was conducted in coordination with the City Tourism Office (CITO), participating departments of the Local Government Unit of IGACOS, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region XI (DENR RXI), and the Barangay Officials of Barangay Ballet, IGACOS.

The activity aimed to assess the overall biophysical condition of the marine ecosystem within the area, including coral reef health, marine biodiversity, and other environmental indicators essential for marine conservation and coastal resource management.

The conduct of the Comprehensive Biophysical Assessment Dive demonstrated the strong collaboration among national government agencies, local government units, and maritime stakeholders in ensuring the protection and preservation of marine resources.

This undertaking also supports the implementation of the ICARE program (Intensified Community Assistance Awareness Response Engagement) and aligns with the directives of President FERDINAND “BONGBONG” R MARCOS JR (PBBM) in strengthening environmental protection efforts, enhancing inter-agency cooperation, and promoting sustainable utilization of marine resources for future generations.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: In line with the observance of the Month of the Ocean (MOO) 2026, personnel of 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐂𝐆𝐒) 𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐂𝐎𝐒, together with MEPGRU-IGACOS, Task Force Samal, staff from various departments of LGU-Samal, Barangay Officials, and Barangay Health Workers (BHW) from different barangays in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS), actively participated in a Coastal Clean-Up Activity conducted on 21 May 2026.

Carrying the theme, “Sustaining Ocean Health, Sailing a Resilient Nation” with the tagline, “Sa Karagatang Masigla, Kaya Natin,” the activity was organized by CENRO-Samal and conducted along the coastal areas of IGACOS. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness, strengthen community participation, and encourage collective action in protecting and preserving the country’s marine ecosystem.

Through this collaborative undertaking, CGS IGACOS and partner agencies reaffirmed their commitment to supporting environmental conservation programs and advancing the advocacy of preserving the nation’s oceans and waterways. This initiative likewise supports the Intensified Community Assistance Awareness Response Engagement (ICARE) program and the directives of PBBM toward environmental sustainability, resiliency, and strengthened community involvement in nation-building.
