Typhoon SAUDEL

TYPHOON SAUDEL IS NOW MOVING WEST NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE PHILIPPINE SEA EAST OF EXTREME NORTHERN LUZON.
โฃ Location of Center (10:00 AM):
The center of the eye of Typhoon SAUDEL was estimated based on all available data at 2,085 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (OUTSIDE PAR) (21.3ยฐN, 142.0ยฐE).
โฃ Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 165 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 205 km/h, and central pressure of 945 hPa.
โฃ Present Movement:
West northwestward at 25 km/h
โฃ Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds
Strong to typhoon-force winds extend outwards up to 520 km from the center
GENERAL OUTLOOK FOR THE FORECAST PERIOD
โข SAUDEL will continue moving generally west northwestward for the next 3 days before moving generally westward for the remaining forecast period. The center of SAUDEL is forecast to enter the northeastern boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by tomorrow (24 August) morning or afternoon.
โข Meanwhile, the possibility of the Tropical Depression (TD) located east of Southern Luzon (outside PAR) to enter PAR is still not ruled out. SAUDEL will be given the domestic name either OBET or PILANDOK, depending on the order of the entry.
โข Based on the forecast track, SAUDEL will remain over the Philippine Sea and will exit the PAR by Tuesday (25 August). However, a more westward track beyond 48 hours may result in SAUDEL remaining within the PAR beyond Tuesday.
โข This tropical cyclone is forecast to reach Super Typhoon category by tomorrow (24 August) prior to its entry to PAR. After reaching its peak intensity, a gradual weakening is expected but the possibility of SAUDEL entering PAR as a Super Typhoon is not ruled out.
โข This tropical cyclone is less likely to directly affect the weather and sea conditions in the country in the next 3 days.
Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to continue monitoring for updates related to this tropical cyclone.
Unless there is an intermediate issuance, the next tropical cyclone advisory will be issued at 11:00 PM today.
