SGLG 2026 Re-Orientation Conducted

DILG Asturias conducted a Re-Orientation on the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) 2026 for the department heads as part of the Municipalityโ€™s continuing preparations for the upcoming SGLG assessment.

Spearheading the orientation was MLGOO John Michael Monillas, DPA, who discussed the ten (10) SGLG governance areas, the salient assessment requirements, the specific responsibilities of each department, and the importance of timely documentation and inter-office coordination. The activity also served as a preparatory session for the conduct of the Mock SGLG Assessment to assess the Asturiasโ€™s readiness and identify areas for improvement.

Through this undertaking, the LGU Asturias reaffirms its commitment to strengthening local governance, institutional excellence, and quality public service delivery in pursuit of another Seal of Good Local Governance.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Asturias facilitated the conduct of the Ugnayan sa Barangay Workshop under the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP), attended by representatives from the five (5) beneficiary barangays of Asturias, namely Barangays Bago, New Bago, Baye, Bairan, and Lanao.

The workshop serves as a venue for the participating barangays to finalize the identification and prioritization of development projects amounting to โ‚ฑ10 Million per barangay. These projects are intended to address the priority needs of the communities and promote sustainable development in formerly conflict-affected and geographically isolated areas.

This initiative is in line with Executive Order No. 70, institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace and addressing the root causes of insurgency through responsive governance and community development interventions.

Providing technical guidance and facilitating the workshop are personnel from the DILG Cebu Provincial Office, together with key representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) Joint Task Group, and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA).

The activity was likewise graced by Hon. Dana Andrew M. Dumdum, Municipal Mayor, and Hon. Reine Yaras, Municipal Vice Mayor, who delivered their messages of support and reaffirmed the commitment of the Municipal Government of Asturias in advancing peace, development, and responsive local governance for all Asturiasnons.

Asturias Strengthens Push for Drug-Cleared Barangays Through BDCP Briefing and Consultation

Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) VI Dr. John Michael Monillas attended the briefing and consultation meeting for the remaining barangays of Asturias undergoing the drug-clearing process.

The activity was spearheaded by PS Asturias Chief of Police, PCPT Jessie Tanola, who led discussions on the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) initiatives and the necessary interventions to help barangays attain and sustain drug-cleared status.

Also present during the activity were MADAC Focal Person Linbird Cayson and barangay representatives from the concerned barangays. Discussions on the challenges encountered in the implementation of as well as identified practical solutions were exchanged to address them.

DILG Asturias remains committed to supporting the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and local stakeholders in advancing safe, peaceful, and drug-free communities through strengthened governance and multi-sectoral collaboration.

DILG Asturias at the NAPC Led LPRAP Orientation

Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Dr. John Michael Monillas participated in the Danao Leg of the Local Poverty Reduction Action Plan (LPRAP) Orientation, aimed at enhancing the capacities of local stakeholders in poverty reduction planning and program implementation.

Joining the activity from LGU Asturias Agriculture Office was Mr. Marcwil Piamonte. The orientation provided insights on the LPRAP process and reinforced the commitment of local government partners toward inclusive and sustainable development.
