𝐒𝐢𝐊𝐚𝐩 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐅 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍.
When Typhoon Emong hit Luzon, it brought fear, destruction, and flooding—especially in Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, and Ilocos Region. Even here in Apayao, many farms were affected, including the farmlands of our Aeta community in Capagaypayan.
In response, the Sangguniang Kabataan, led by 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐀. 𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐨, in partnership with the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) under the leadership of Aze Joshua Urbano and Princess Arlhie Balderama, launched the program SiKap: Sangguniang Kabataan Alay Paglingkod—a simple way to reach out and help the most vulnerable in our community during calamities like this.
Muddy pathway, bushes, muddy farm, wood bridge, dredged soil, muddy and rocky stip going up the mountain— SK Leaders, BCPC Leaders and Members, and BHWs walked all that just to reach the community of our Aeta brothers and sisters.
This wouldn’t have been possible without the generous hearts of our donors.
Thank you to Sir Gilbert Chan of Hilltop Hardware, together with Ma’am Elena Bandoy and Sir Edison Basilad, for donating 50 𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘦.
Big thanks as well to Sir Geeku Magbual, Ma'am Jodel Lyra Urbano, Ma’am Geene Urbano, Ma’am Nuelina Sebastian, and Ma’am Frelyn D. Pagdilao for sharing their financial support that helped the council to buy 𝘯𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘴 Homi, 𝘕𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘧𝘦, 𝘊𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦, 𝘣𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘴, 𝘴𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘳, 𝘊𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘺 𝘛𝘶𝘯𝘢, 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘺 7 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘧 𝘣𝘪𝘨, 𝘗𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘺 𝘱𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘨 (500𝘨), 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘨𝘨 for the big families of Aeta in the community.
We also truly appreciate the coordination of Hon. Marizel Pagala, and to the Barangay Health Worker Ma'am Emelyn Gamet and Ma'am Dianne Gamet, and their family, and our partners from the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC), for helping us reach our Aeta friends in the mountains.
From our hearts to yours—maraming salamat po.
Padayon lang, kailian. 💙
