On July 1, 2026, a critical collaborative ground verification survey was successfully executed in Barangay Cagandungan, Luna, Apayao. Technical team successfully crossed the formidable Cagandungan River yesterday to execute a critical field verification and ocular inspection. The mission aimed to assess a complex property boundary dispute involving a localized land claim overlapping a Group Settlement Survey(GSS) patented property within Barangay Cagandungan, Luna, Apayao.
The operation was conducted through the collaborative efforts of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Apayao Provincial Team and Support Assistance LUSA Task Force Geodetic Engineers (LUSA TF GEs).
Equipped with high-precision Survey-Grade Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers and handheld machetes for trail-blazing, the joint team advanced through dense vegetation. The path followed the natural topography of Cagandungan, scaling increasingly steep inclines as the team traveled toward Mt. Samsambiri.
The successful joint operation concluded with a field debriefing, establishing an empirical, undisputed boundary line that protects indigenous heritage while legally securing patented property rights
