Personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection assigned at the San Jose Fire Station, under the supervision of FSINSP Macario I. MontaΓ±a Jr., successfully conducted a Community Fire Auxiliary Group (CFAG) Training for the residents and volunteers of Barangay San Pedro in coordination with Hon. Barangay Captain Victorino M. Alojipan Jr..
The activity aimed to strengthen the barangayβs disaster preparedness and enhance the capability of community volunteers in responding effectively to fire emergencies and other related incidents. The CFAG serves as an important partner of the Bureau of Fire Protection in promoting fire safety awareness, assisting in fire suppression operations, conducting initial response during emergencies, and helping protect lives and properties within the community. Through the active participation of trained volunteers, the barangay becomes more prepared, organized, and resilient during times of disaster.
As part of the training, the participants attended a comprehensive Fire Safety Lecture which focused on fire prevention measures, common causes of fire incidents, emergency evacuation procedures, and the importance of immediate reporting and coordination during emergencies. The lecture emphasized the value of preparedness, discipline, and community cooperation in minimizing fire-related risks.
The practical exercises included a Bucket Relay demonstration where participants learned teamwork and proper water relay techniques commonly used during fire incidents when water sources are limited. The volunteers also underwent actual Fire Fighting using Fire Extinguishers, wherein they were taught the proper handling and operation of extinguishers using the PASS method (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep) to effectively suppress incipient fires.
Additionally, the participants experienced Fire Fighting using Fire Truck equipment, allowing them to familiarize themselves with basic firefighting operations, hose handling, and water application techniques under the guidance of BFP personnel. The training also included the proper Lifting and Transfer of Victims, where volunteers learned safe and correct techniques in carrying injured individuals during rescue and emergency situations to prevent further injury.
