We, 𝗞𝗔𝗦𝗔𝗠𝗔 𝗞𝗔 𝗞𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗔𝗡 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗢𝗥𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡, stand in grief and solidarity with the families, classmates, and community of Tacloban City following the tragic school shooting that claimed the lives of three students and left many others wounded inside San Jose National High School on June 22, 2026.
This devastating incident unfolded within the school premises in Barangay San Jose, where two minor students carried fi****ms and opened fire on their peers. The attack resulted in chaos, panic, and heartbreaking loss. Authorities have since taken the suspects into custody, while investigations continue to uncover the circumstances that led to this act of violence. Early reports suggest that personal conflict and bullying may have played a role, but the full truth remains under careful review.
The tragedy reminds us that schools must remain sanctuaries of learning, growth, and safety. No child should ever fear for their life inside a classroom. It is a wake‑up call for all sectors of society the government, schools, civil society, and communities to strengthen protective measures, provide mental health support, and empower young people to resolve conflicts peacefully.
As a youth organization, we extend our deepest condolences to the families who lost their children, our prayers to those recovering from injuries, and our unwavering support to the survivors and the entire Tacloban community. We call on leaders and institutions to act decisively in ensuring that the rights and lives of Filipino youth are safeguarded.
This tragedy must not be forgotten. It should inspire collective action toward peace, justice, and the protection of every student. We believe that through unity, compassion, and accountability, we can build a future where schools remain places of hope and opportunity, not fear and violence.
Signed,
