Before his arrest, former President Rodrigo Duterte publicly challenged the International Criminal Court, saying he was unafraid of facing the court in The Hague and even urging investigators to speed up their probe.

Now held in ICC detention for nearly a year, Duterte is set to face a confirmation of charges hearing, where judges will decide whether his case moves to trial.
