Let’s end the work week on a positive note by commending the Local Government of Anda for the passage of Resolution No. 106, Series of 2026, a landmark step in recognizing and safeguarding Lamanok and its associated cultural landscape.

The adoption of this resolution marks a significant milestone for the Municipality of Anda. For the first time, Lamanok Point is formally recognized not only as an archaeological site, but as part of a broader cultural landscape shaped by living traditions, particularly the Tamba’n Kinaran knowledge system. In doing so, it reframes heritage from something static and site-bound into something living, relational, and deeply rooted in community.
But beyond policy language, what does this mean?
For Bohol, this builds on an already strong foundation. The province has long demonstrated how heritage can be both preserved and lived, seen in the conservation of its Spanish colonial churches alongside the enduring practice of Catholic traditions, and in the safeguarding of asin tibuok together with the cultural landscapes and practices tied to it.
For the people of Anda, this is recognition. Recognition that their stories, practices, and ways of knowing are not relics of the past, but vital parts of their identity today. It affirms the role of knowledge holders and culture bearers as stewards of heritage, and creates space for their voices to guide how Lamanok is cared for moving forward. More importantly, the resolution establishes a clear mandate for safeguarding heritage, promoting inclusive governance, and encouraging sustainable stewardship.
It provides a policy foundation for long-term conservation, research, and cultural education, not just for Lamanok, but as a model that other communities may follow. In this sense, the resolution goes beyond just a formal document. It opens the way for stronger collaboration among the LGU, cultural agencies, and communities, and provides a policy basis for long-term conservation, research, and cultural education initiatives.
Daghang salamat sa LGU Anda ug sa tanang nagtinabangay.
Far from finished, but far from where it started.
