On June 12, 1898, the Philippines became an independent country after a long struggle against Spanish colonial rule. Today, the whole Municipal Government of Anahawan headed by Hon. Roberto A. Loquinte the Local Chief Executive celebrates the 124th anniversary of the Philippine Independence with the theme “Kalayaan 2022: Pag-suong sa Hamon Ng Panibagong Bukas.
The commemoration was attended by different government agencies, barangay officials led by Hon. Jose A. Loquinte, Ex-Officio SP Member and Hon. Riza L. Reytas, Ex-Officio SB Member. Likewise, the OIC Chief of Police PLT Joel P. Carbonilla together with his constituents joined the rites.
This year's theme emphasizes recovery and the rise of the country to the problems of the past years, particularly the pandemic and the typhoon Odette which left an awful situation in the town.
Also on this special day, we take a look back at the events that led up to our independence and celebrate all that has come since, a time to reaffirm the Filipino nation's upholding of democracy and human rights.
