Residents of Barangay Mapurao gathered in large numbers at the Barangay Hall Gymnasium from December 21 to 23 for the Intergenerational Community Socialization Program, a three-day activity designed to bring together youth, adults, and senior citizens in a shared celebration of unity and cooperation. Guided by the theme โCultivating Community and Bridging Generations,โ the event highlighted the importance of strengthening relationships across different age groups within the community.
The program was led by the SK Officials, headed by SK Chairwoman Athena Mae Santiago-Torida, whose leadership played a vital role in ensuring the success of the activity. She was joined by one of the event organizers, Sir Jayson Eustaquio, a teacher from Mapurao Integrated Learning School (MILS). Their collaborative efforts ensured that the programโs objectives were effectively achieved, with a strong focus on youth development, leadership, and community engagement.
The event aimed to promote cooperation among generations while providing a platform for youth engagement, sportsmanship, and inclusive community interaction.
Sports competitions were among the major highlights of the program. A basketball tournament for boys drew enthusiastic participation and strong community support, showcasing teamwork, discipline, and competitive spirit among the young athletes. At the conclusion of the tournament, Team Roland emerged as the champion, earning recognition for their skill, determination, and strong teamwork. The games fostered camaraderie and encouraged active lifestyles among the youth of Mapurao.
In the girlsโ volleyball competition, Team Rhianne emerged as the champion after demonstrating exceptional skill, coordination, and determination throughout the matches. Their victory was met with loud cheers, reflecting the communityโs strong support for women in sports and youth empowerment.
Modern recreational activities also took center stage with the Mobile Legends tournament, which attracted numerous young participants and spectators. Team Dino Squad claimed the championship title, impressing the audience with their strategic gameplay and teamwork.
Adding excitement to the celebration, the SK officials organized raffle draws and parlor games that engaged participants of all ages. These activities created a joyful atmosphere and encouraged interaction among children, youth, and elders, reinforcing the programโs intergenerational focus.
The event was further strengthened by the active involvement of the Supreme Student Learning Government (SSLG), led by President Jastine Carl Fontillas. Their participation highlighted the importance of student leadership and collaboration in community-based initiatives.
Significant contributions also came from the Technical Working Group (TWG) facilitatorsโCristopher Torida, Princes Torida, Charles Dave Gabbac, Ezekiel Lingan, Alessandra Cabiles, and Chris Angelo Pimentel, and Elvie Jade Reynonโwhose dedication ensured the smooth implementation of all activities.
Residents of Barangay Mapurao expressed their appreciation for the program, noting its positive impact on community unity and youth development. The strong turnout and active participation reflected the barangayโs collective commitment to fostering harmony and cooperation.
