Earlier today, August 24, 2026, the Municipality of Abucay conducted the Barangay Environmental Compliance Audit (BECA) Municipal Table Validation, led by the Municipal Assessment Committee (MAC), with the participation of MLGOO Abucay Joanna Marie Cruz, OIC-MENRO Engr. Llord Vien Baltazar, and ABE Engr. Julius Caesar Lopez.

The activity assessed the barangays’ compliance with Republic Act No. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and formed part of the Manila Bay Clean-up, Preservation, and Rehabilitation Program (MBCPRP).

The highest-scoring barangay will have the opportunity to represent Abucay in the Provincial BECA, promoting stronger environmental governance, proper solid waste management, and sustainable community practices.

The Barangay Secretaries of all nine (9) barangays of Abucay actively participated via Zoom in the regional training entitled “Refresher on the Enhanced Barangay Information Management System (REBIMS) Version 1.7 for Digital Ready and Smarter Barangays” on August 19, 2026.

The activity, conducted as part of the implementation of the Local Government Unit Support System (LGUSS) Program, aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of barangay officials in the effective utilization of REBIMS and strengthen digital information management at the barangay level.

On August 17, 2026, Barangay Wawa, Abucay, Bataan successfully conducted a Capacity-Building Activity on Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) to strengthen the knowledge and skills of its Lupon Tagapamayapa in effectively administering the barangay justice system.

The activity was facilitated by the MLGOO of Abucay, who discussed the Katarungang Pambarangay process, settlement and mediation techniques, and the key criteria and requirements under the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA). The discussion emphasized the importance of proper documentation, efficient case management, effective mediation, and compliance with KP procedures and LTIA standards.

Through continuing capacity-building initiatives, DILG Abucay remains committed to empowering barangay officials and strengthening a responsive, accessible, and effective barangay justice system for the community.

The activity was facilitated by the MLGOO of Abucay, who discussed the KP process and the jurisdiction of the Lupon. The session equipped the lupon members, barangay officials, and the Summons Officer with essential knowledge and practical insights to efficiently handle disputes and foster peaceful conflict resolution within the community.

The Municipality of Abucay successfully conducted its 3rd Quarter Meeting of the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) and Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) on August 13, 2026, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and order, public safety, and strengthening the anti-illegal drugs campaign.

The meeting gathered key partner agencies, including the PNP, Philippine Army, BFP, DepEd, and PDEA, which presented updates on peace and security, fire prevention, student safety, and anti-illegal drug initiatives in the municipality.

During the meeting, MLGOO Joanna Marie Cruz, Head Secretariat of the MPOC, presented the updates on the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) to the RCSP Team.

The quarterly MPOC and MADAC meeting serves as an important venue for inter-agency coordination, collaboration, and strategic planning toward a safer, more peaceful, and drug-free Abucay.

On July 24, 2026, the Municipality of Abucay successfully conducted the "Strengthening Barangay Justice: Katarungang Pambarangay Capability Enhancement Training" to enhance the knowledge and competencies of Lupon Tagapamayapa Members in the effective implementation of the Katarungang Pambarangay system.

The training featured Atty. Charmaine Jacqueline I. Paulino-Evangelista, Provincial Officer of NAPOLCOM Bataan, as the resource person. She shared valuable insights and practical guidance on the effective administration of the Katarungang Pambarangay. Participants included the Punong Barangays, Barangay Secretaries, Summons Officers, and Lupon Tagapamayapa Members from the municipality's nine barangays.

Also present during the activity was Mr. Dexter Pol Llanda, representing Municipal Mayor Erik Martel, who conveyed the mayor's continued support for initiatives that strengthen the barangay justice system and promote accessible justice at the grassroots level. The activity was facilitated by the DILG Abucay Field Office serving as the facilitator throughout the training.

The successful conduct of the training reaffirms the Municipality of Abucay's commitment to strengthening the capacities of barangay officials and fostering peaceful, efficient, and community-based dispute resolution through an effective Katarungang Pambarangay system.

On June 21, 2026, Barangay Salian conducted the capacity-building activity titled "Strengthening Barangay Leadership Through Capacity Building for Safer, More Responsive, and Child-Friendly Communities."

As part of the program, the MLGOO of Abucay served as the resource person for the session on Katarungang Pambarangay (KP), focusing on the KP process and mediation techniques. The discussion equipped the Lupon Tagapamayapa, barangay officials, and barangay tanods with essential knowledge and skills to effectively resolve community disputes and promote peace at the barangay level.

DILG Abucay continues to support initiatives that strengthen the capacity of barangay officials in delivering responsive and effective local governance.
