Pursuant to Municipal Ordinance No. 005-A2, the Mayor's Office-Environment Section facilitates the conduct of Tree Planting activity in celebration of the ARBOR DAY on June 25, 2024.. It was participated by the different offices of LGU-Bauko and National Agencies namely: Mayor's Office (Environment, Tourism, BPLO, Radyo Kataguwan 97.3 FM - Bauko, Mountain Province , and LICENSING), RHU, MDRRMO, GSO, OMAG, BFP, KALAHI, MASSO, SBO, MTO, MSWDO, LCR, MEO, DTI-NC and Bauko MPS with a total of 75 people . Prior to proceeding to the planting site at Kilkili, Caotit, Guinzadan Central, the participants convened at the municipal gym for registration. At the planting site before the actual planting, the MENRO personnel gave brief orientation on proper planting of seedlings and management of plastic waste from the seedling pots including other non-biodegradable solid waste to be generated. After the half day activity, the participants were able to plant a total of 1,055 pine seedlings.

Apart from compliance sake, the activity was a significant action of the local government towards Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation.

LOOK! A FALCON (COMMON BUZZARD) WAS SUCCESSFULLY RELEASED AND WAS SENT BACK TO THE WILD ON APRIL 08, 2024.
The bird was turned over to Mr. Jomar Buclay (MENRO Bauko Staff) by Miss Vivian Ngateb, a resident of Abatan, Bauko and a faculty member of Mayag Elementary School.
According to Miss Vivian, the said bird was found on May 07, 2024 at about four o’clock in the afternoon at Mayag Elementary School Open Gym.
Upon proving that no injury inflicted to the bird, Mr. Buclay released the Falcon, and was sent back to the wild where it really belongs at 7:30 in the morning of, May 08, 2024 at the Bauko Municipal Building rooftop.
Under RA 9147 (AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE CONSERVATION AND PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE RESOURCES AND THEIR HABITATS), collecting, hunting or possessing wildlife and their by-products and derivatives is an illegal act. Wild animals are very important in balancing the environment as they provide stability to different natural processes of nature. They also help maintain environmental quality by degrading and removing some pollutants and by preventing waste accumulation.

“Joint Fire Line Establishment in Kilkili, Guinzadan Central, Bauko, Mt. Province”
On March 22, 2024, the Bauko MENRO, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and BLGU- Guinzadan Central collaboratively conducted fireline establishment at Kilkili, Guinzadan Central within the tree plantation project of ASA Phils. and LGU Bauko. After a half day work, the group were able to accomplish an approximate dimension of 5 meters by 100 meters.
Said activity is in observance of Fire Prevention Month and pursuant to the role of every stakeholder in protecting the plantation. It also emphasizes the importance of fire prevention and the role of everyone plays in maintaining the integrity of the environment.

In celebration of the " World Wetlands Day" scheduled every 2nd of February of the year, Bauko MENRO personnel together with the barangay officials of Monamon Norte headed by its Punong Barangay June L. Pakipak conduct garbage retrieval in Paradise Falls, Monamon Norte, Baulo, Mountain Province. Simultaneously, the group conducted plogging from the said place en route to sitio Bansa of the same barangay. The team had successfully retrieved 6 sacks of garbage from the site and was stored in the Barangay MFR for future collection and disposal.

The World wetlands day has the theme "Wetlands' and Well-being" which underscores the crucial role of wetlands play enhancing our lives It also highlights how wetlands contribute to clean water, biodiversity and recreational activities which are essential for human health and well-being.

Together let us protect and restore our wetlands for healthier and safer living.
