Cordell Bank sits on the Pacific plate west of the active San Andreas fault. With every seismic movement along the fault, Cordell Bank and the Pacific plate move just a little bit further north as it has for millions of years. We are moving our social media too! How would you like to sail around the world at the mercy of the ocean currents and winds? By-the-wind sailors (so appropriately named!) do just that! These jelly like animals are colonial hydroids meaning they are made up of a colony of tiny animals living together. We wonder if there are satellite tags light enough to tag and follow a by-the-wind sailor!?
