A 10-day forum for the exchange of ideas on first response to disasters concluded yesterday with a ceremony at an ES Salud hospital in Pisco, Peru. The forum included the sharing of lessons learned from the 2007 earthquake in Pisco, from natural disasters in the U.S., and hands on training in basic and intermediate first aid and a search and rescue course on the collapse of light materials. The first aid course culminated in a live exercise, where participants were able to practice what they learned in the classroom. More than 230 people participated in the forum to become more prepared to save lives and respond quickly after a natural disaster.
