In a ceremony at the U.S. Embassy in Lima, New Horizons medical leadership recognized a group of volunteer interpreters who were a tremendous help in accomplishing the medical mission in Peru. The interpreters provided 600 hours of translation and enabled the task force to provide free medical care to more than 26,300 patients at 11 locations over a six week period. The days that the interpreters volunteered to help, medics were able to see a much larger number of patients per day. Many of the volunteers were high school students, some of which were discerning whether or not they wanted to go to medical school...after their experience helping out with patient care at the medical sites, many are motivated to pursue further schooling for a medical career.
