Diplomatic relations between India and Peru were established in March 1963. Ratnam, was concurrently accredited as Peru and the Indian Embassy in Chile served as concurrent Indian Embassy in Peru. During this period were Ambassadors of India:

In September 1969, India open
ed its resident mission in Lima, Peru. The mission was headed by Charge d'Affaires, Mr. PA Nazareth. The first resident Ambassador of India in Lima, Hon. AR Sethi, arrived in November 1973. Since then the Ambassadors of India in Peru have been:

Regarding the location, was the first resident Embassy in Paseo de la Republica 291, Office 1201, Lima. Then in 1974 he moved to Ignacio de Loyola 150, Miraflores. Since 1990 the Embassy is located on Avenida Salaverry 3006, San Isidro.
