An awe-inspiring place to set up the tents, this happened on our 8-day hike on Ausangate Sibinacocha + Rainbow Mountain in the Vilcanota highland region of Cusco where we covered a mileage of over 100 miles and reaching up to 17'000 feet on a couple of days. This is the season to witness this great place like a chessboard, it is located in the plains of the Sacred Valley. The different tones of greens and yellowish squares are crops like quinoa, potatoes, wheat, beans, etc. Locals farm this way to fit crops in a small area of land with the idea to have a variety of products. Besides some crops are owned by different families so the reason to farm in square ways.
